Let's not forget the other key advantages of the proposed infrastructure stimulus:
- Puts a buttload of money into highway, bridge, and tunnel repair, not to mention more money for state/county/local roads, which in many places are in terrible shape.
- Increases investment in technology that will help in the transition to assisted driving and autonomous driving. This will likely include more investment in smart lane markings and other embedded hardware that will make it easier for cars to drive themselves and communicate with a central traffic system (especially on the highways).
- Additional investments in rail should help to encourage a shift of freight from the highways to rail (where more of our freight should be anyway...much less wear and tear on the roads)
