Funniest encounter I had was a guy who came up to me in the Trader Joe’s parking lot who said “ I didn’t know Ferrari made an SUV”. I eventually told him it was a Ford Mustang and that it was pretty fast. He mistook the Mustang badge. He wanted to hear the engine! He finally understood it was a pure electric after a few minutes. He really liked the car.
I have a couple of friends who thought it was a Porsche. I also caught a lady driving behind me recording with her phone on top of the steering wheel. My favorite encounter was at a stoplight and a pickup with 3 guys who were looking and seemed like they wanted to talk so I rolled my window down and they were like "is that the new electric mustang?" Smiled and said yep and they were like "look at you girl!"

The good thing is, that it is up to us "MME buyers" to represent it and refer to it as "Mustang".
And I am going to repeat that till the haters "thumbs down" fall of....
If anybody really wants to take a serious discussion on if it really is a Mustang I would recommend to them to drive one first and to talk after. I guess 95% of the hate will be gone after driving one.
The rest of the hate is, like often, a mixture of stupidity and ignorance.

Keep being proud of it guys
The only time I've gotten the "not a mustang comment" so far was from some family friends' daughter that was face timing with her parents who were all excited about my car and wanted to show her. She has a mustang and acted like the typical "not a mustang" person does, but she sure had her dad crawling around inside and outside the car to show her everything on the FaceTime call lol.

The reactions have been great! I've had folks chase me down on the highway and if they catch up, a couple have given me a thumbs up!

I've had an older gentlemen wait for me to come out of the store and he asked a bunch of questions about the car.

Today, I was walking back to my car and I see this guys standing real close to my car. Then he starts taking pictures of the car. When I walk up, he's like man, that's a Mustang! That's a sweet car!

Love the positivity and excitement, but sometimes it's a little weird!

"That's not a Porsche" is what they said about my first Cayenne - that ended up being one of their best selling vehicles...
AMEN! I owned a Porsche Macan GT for a few months back in 2018, and all I heard was, "That's not really a Porsche." I traded it against a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk in June of 2018. No one ever accused me of not really owning a Jeep!

Luckily for me, I've received all positive reactions on me MME so far.

I've had mostly positive reactions, from the "Thumbs Up" driving at 75 MPH on the highway from a young couple who purposely drove the same speed to look at it, to people stopping to check it out at the charging station, to one guy who pulled in front of me, blocking me from leaving, to stop and ask me about it. Had one guy taking pics of it as I was inside a store watching him.

My aunt sent me a pic of a Tesla turned on it's side with it's "Duracell" batteries showing. I wrote her back and said, "good thing I don't have a Tesla". (She's also complained about how EVs aren't paying their fair share of road maintenance by not buying gas)

I was at my friends house a few days ago with my car in their driveway. She told me this morning that the neighbor kid thought it was theirs and really liked it.

My mom was really impressed with it. Her friend, not so much, just wanted to show me what her car could do. (not an EV) I found everything is all about her so not surprised.

A few have said, "That's not a Mustang." And I reply, "well it's MY mustang." That seems to shut them up.

I'm enjoying it no matter what others think!

I pay an extra $120 on my yearly registration because my car is an EV. Probably doesn't put much of a dent in the lack of tax I pay on gas, but hey, they're punishing us somehow!

I'm picking up my IB Mach-E today, but when I drove the demo model a couple of weeks ago, definitely got a lot of pointing. Parked at a brewery one of those evenings and the people who showed up a little later to meet us, who didn't know I had the car, were asking if we'd seen that Mustang in the parking lot. It's definitely a striking car.

Maybe different where you are, but up here in the outskirts of Portland Oregon I get a few looks and had a couple questions/comments, but def not the level of attention a lot of you are reporting.
Maybe a Portland area thing. In the Seattle area, I get looks, thumbs up, questions, and photos taken—Grabber Blue is stunning on a sunny day—almost every time I go out. My favorite was while stopped in traffic in downtown Issiquah, a shout from a lady in a car going in the opposite direction, “Nice car!”

I just came back from running a few errands with my wife. During our run around, I got the best look from a Tesla driver ever. I was first in line at a lighted intersection, waiting for my green light to turn left. A woman in a red Tesla sedan proceeded to go slowly through the intersection on her green light, from my right to my left, and took a triple-take at me in my MME. I can only describe the look as a "What the heck is THAT?"

I love my MME even more today than I did yesterday!:cool::cool:

The negative reactions I have received have been few and far between, and they’ve centered almost exclusively on the nameplate.
Agreed. All the #notamustang folks like the car, just not the badge.

People are, well, not very bright at times. No one has told me that my Taycan is not a Porsche, yet. If Ford calls it a freaking Mustang, then that’s what it is........

Around here I don't get a lot of notice. I went to Wawa today to exchange my grill's propane tank, and since it was grungy I put it in the frunk. I pulled into a parking space next to a big dodge pickup with 2 guys sitting in it talking and eating their sandwiches (it was lunchtime) with their windows open. I popped the frunk, took out the tank, and left the frunk open. It took 2 minutes to go through the procedure of returning my old tank and getting a new one -all with the hood open. After I got my new tank, I stuck it back in the frunk and closed the hood.

Not one peep out of either guy; I guess their sandwiches and conversation were more interesting than the guy sticking a propane tank under the hood....
