I have not gotten a second fob yet. I use PaaK for everyday driving. If I’m traveling beyond Uber distance from my home, the fob comes along for the ride.

Update: Dealer I bought the vehicle from (which actually does deal with MMEs) said the passcode should be robust as long as you don’t remove the car from your profile on the app.
I asked him to confirm and call back ASAP.

Update: FordPass support was useless. Basically said we’re very sorry and advise people to take their fobs with them. They were not helpful in confirming if the passcode has a shelf life or not. Still waiting for dealer service center to confirm

I wonder if this Master Reset getting pushed to some MME's is somehow tied to some of the issues I and others have been experiencing the past few days where our doors have stopped auto unlocking when walking up to the vehicle (https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...s-is-new-and-different-from-the-old-ssm.7729/)

My PAAK and door code were also removed, but I still had my backup code and was able to get into the vehicle by unlocking via FordPass app.

There's been a number of issues the past few days and they all seem pretty odd.
This is a bit disturbing tbh. Presuming the OP is not engaged in a work of forum fiction (and we have zero reason to think they are), this is rather dangerous. Regardless of the why it happened, it can’t happen. A fix needs to be delivered to everyone immediately.

I got a message late yesterday saying “All Phone As A Key access and Backup Start Passcodes were removed from [ (2021 Mustang Mach-E)] due to Master Vehicle Reset. A vehicle key fob is required for operation.”

I happen to be road tripping and did not bring the FOB with me since I figured with the phone and with the backup passcode that’s two methods to start the car.

Last night after getting the message my PaaK did stop working but I was still able to start via passcode. I have two days left in my road trip so parked it at the nearest Ford dealership overnight and heading there soon to see what we can do.
Anyone had this problem? Is there any way to get back on the road without a fob?

I received the same notification about 10:40pm last night. I was concerned as the car is at the Ceramic Coating guys shop, not even home. Glad I'm not the only one. Do we know why??

Hey Ford Motor Co. this is where you step in and give your "Corporate Speak"; but at minimum let us know what the hell is going on!!! At minimum, Musk will Tweet his customers and explain most of the time that they are about or did push an update. C'mon Man (Ford Motor Co.)

I tried to get a second fob yesterday. I was told that the Ford fob programming system was down. No fobs could be programmed anywhere in the country. They gave me another appointment a week from yesterday on the assumption that it will be fixed by then. It should be a simple process.
Erase the key memory. Program the first fob in. Program the second fob in. I don't understand why a computer in Michigan needs to be involved.

?I have a car on order. This is concerning. When Tesla sends updates, we have the option to install or not. They aren't installed automatically. But as with Tesla, there will be some initial learning as Ford moves forward with electrification and OTA updates

The passcode continues to work but the dealer advised that I’m working on borrowed time and after a certain (unknown) passcode starts it will look for a key or lock you out.
Do we have any confirmation in writing this is true?

I got it in writing (text message in FordPass app) that ""... and Backup Start Passcodes were removed ..." That isn't true, the Backup Start Passcode was NOT removed. I don't even know if it really did a "Master Vehicle Reset." I can confirm that my PaaK has stopped working.

Why should we believe something just because it is in writing?

I support a major ERP and this is way too much of my time, “what isn’t working?” There’s so much of something happened over there, that got fixed, then broke something else, and someone hard reset something, and so it goes…

There are people who could have been completely stranded by this decision. And even if you meticulously train dealers, Bob the service manager was sick that day, doesn’t keep up with new issues because he’s got to write tickets, or just can’t manage the volume, then we show up and?????.

Here‘s to you Ford Beta Tester Men and Women of Genius, you are not just stress testing the car but the entire support network.

@Ford Motor Company This is not ok.
Can you at least confirm that the backup passcode won't randomly stop working if it is used too many times without a fob so people can get back home?

Personally, I would never go on a trip without a fob, in fact, even though I have PAAK usually working, I never leave home without the fob. I got the dealer to program a second fob for my wife and she will never set up her phone as PAAK.

Agree completely. The Tesla PAAK also doesn't work seamlessly at times. I hate that the 3 and Y only have a card key. My husband forgets his all the time and can't use the valet then. My S came with a fob and I always keep it in my purse.
