Interesting reading the zappi issues.

I’ve emailed them because mine keeps pausing. Recently I’ve seen it sending 2.7kw back to the grid with the car on 82% and waiting charge.

I also found out it only sends solar to the car over 1.4kw. Anything less than that and it goes back to the grid.

Told them I would be happy getting anything more than 0.5kw going to the car. Slow but free.

They said it’s an EV Charging requirement.

If your problems persist I emailed [email protected] and got a very fast response.
thanks Dave,

I think I may have some wider issues as nothing to do with charging works on my car - have you managed to get the charging schedules working at all ?

Ive not tried the charging schedules yet. I just plug it in and take it off when I need to go out.

If you have the time would be good to know if it works as otherwise I need to go back to the dealer and get it sorted.

MME RR ER RWD ?

Strange the car says up to date but the FordPass app says update missing.
Hi @SashaLondon

Yes, as @SJ_Okay said, this is all quite confusing and frustrating - both the "failed updates" and the inconsistency between the FordPass App and the Car itself ?

I have had an OTA fail a large number of times over the last couple of weeks or so - I think a number of us have had a similar experience - and have double checked everything my end as far as I can and things look fine!

I raised this with the Mach-E Support Team last Monday, and they said they would escalate with the Technical Team - I am waiting for their response (I've been away for a few days and noticed a few missed calls on my landline on Friday, which I suspect may be them ?)

I will post any update on the forum as soon as I hear anything ?

Hopefully they will address this with the appropriate priority - if they do not, then any "significant" or "urgent" updates (such as the eCall update) would fail and presumably require us all to go to the dealers to apply the updates ?

In the absence of any resolution, I will post this to the Ford account on this forum.

Hope you are enjoying your new car ..... and after a very long wait your patience has been rewarded ?

Cheers
David

Have read your post with interest - have you got the zappi to work with schedules when the car goes to sleep - I cannot get any of the car charging schedules to work either I must be doing something wrong as I keep getting charge delayed unless I turn the car on after I plug in - can you help at all
Hi @cleave

I don't have a Zappi and it may be something specific to that charger as @davkd has mentioned.

However, I have a Ford Connected Wallbox (on my third one now !) and I think, as @SJ_Okay said , there are definitely some idiosyncrasies with the basic Charging Schedule when used in conjunction with a Maximum Charge Level (this is without introducing the added confusion if also using Departure Schedules - which I don't use!).

In my case, I use Octopus Go and had set a schedule for 01:00 to 04:00 every day (should be 00:30 to 04:30 for the "cheap rate" provided by Octopus Go but Ford only supports Charging Schedules that start and end on the hour ?). I also didn't want to charge above 85% to maximise the battery life, so set the Maximum Charge Level accordingly

This set-up should add about 25% charge each night, so I planned to simply plug it in over a couple of nights or so every couple of weeks to get up to the 85%.

The first time I tried this I had 70% charge and it duly charged from 01:00 until 85% was reached ?

However, the following week I was at a lower level of charge - about 50% - and when I plugged the car in during the evening in preparation for the 01:00 schedule, it started charging immediately.

Cutting a long story short (TLTR !!) it appears that what the manual does not tell you is that if the car determines that it cannot reach the target level within the next Charging Schedule window or within 24 hours, it will also start charging immediately and/or extend the charging outside of the specified Charging Schedule hours. (I may not have this 100% correct but I think that is the general gist of the matter)

I found this out purely as I had a warning message pop up in the car at one point hinting at this.

There may be other factors at play here, but based on the above I found a workround to get the car to do what I wanted ?

So in summary, yes there are some odd things happening with the Charging Schedule ?

MME RR ER RWD ?

Hi all,

Just a quick question re: Closing the Charge Port Door

I've charged the car a good number of times now, but this morning having charged the car overnight (per my schedule) I had real problems getting the Charge Port Door to close properly.

It refused to latch at all, and when I finally thought it had, it popped open about 10 seconds later ?

I have seen some comments on other threads saying that people have had this pop open (in some cases while driving on the motorway) which is a bit concerning, but wondered if anyone here had experienced any issues with closing the door or it popping open?

Look forward to any thoughts on this
David

PS: on my previous Mitsubishi PHEV, the charge port door was both very robust and very straightforward to open and close and lock - in comparison the MME does not appear to be that well implemented!

For me the car charges as and when told to by the Zappi, all works here ie 7kW, Eco & Eco+

Is the car set to charge when plugged in and no scheduled charges set in car.

The min is set by the EV Charging Standards which is set at min 1.4kW the MME will only go below this when conditioning the battery (see my earlier post for info).

If you want me to test/check a specific setting just post the details here & I will set mine up and give it a go and post back.

One annoying detail about the charging is the cable release button, sometimes it releases & other times I have to use the menu which always works, does not seem to matter how long the cable has been in or if its actually charging or not, not to bad now but come the rainy season its going to be really annoying.

Is there any way we can speak on the phone ?

Here’s my ‘Storm Trooper’, SR AWD. Had it for a couple of weeks now so starting to get to grips with things although it’s been a bit of a baptism by fire being an EV noob and a dodgy home pod point installation hasn’t helped. Took it on its first family jaunt to Legoland last week, 260mile round trip but no issues finding fast chargers etc. Generally loving it although I can’t seem to get the trip logs to work on the Ford Pass app? Everything is set up as it should be (i think). Any suggestions?

At the moment ALL the spare PV is being sent to the car as per pic.
Ford Mustang Mach-E UK Customers Zappi_01

set a timer on the Zappi in say 10mins time the car is already charging but will switch to Full Pwr ie 7kW instead of using only the surplus power from the PV.
Ford Mustang Mach-E UK Customers Zappi_04

After the timer finishes it will revert back to using only surplus PV

*** Having a Tele conversation with cleave it appears to be a setting in Zappi that pre-conditioning must have a value & not set to zero ie set to 0.5kW***

Thank you so much everyone for your help - problem all sorted with a setting change on the zappi and turning of MME charging schedules. Plug in now wakes the car and zappi schedules work as they should. Some things are never easy
