Any updates on your fix?!

Bought my Mach E on August 5th drove it home. Plugged it into the wall. Then an hour later was going to drive and show my wife the new purchase. Got the power steering fault/service required plus 4 other faults (blind spot detection fault, lake keep assist fault, ABS fault, park aid fault). My car was a 5/2021 built date. Dealer picked it up the next day.
The dealer was able to reset all the faults, however the power steering issue did not go away. They are telling me that they need to replace the power steering module (includes the entire steering assembly). And guess what, the part is back ordered until September 3rd. Will probably take them another few days to replace it.
weird! I thought I posted my update and I don’t see it!

anyways, I got my car back on the 29th! The dealer told me the replacement module appeared out of no where one day, so he prioritized it and had it worked on right away!

I knew it was coming soon because Ford called and told me they had sent it out to the dealer a day before. Anyways, dealer threw it in and got Beastie purring real good again.

Ford Called a week later and said they checked with the dealer on status and found out that I got it back. They also offered me a complimentary Premium maintenance plan for free good for 45k miles.

it isn’t a big deal because it is an EV but I’m planning on my taking my car in for the next four service appointments.

I’d recommend messaging @Ford Motor Company on here

they will contact the dealer and make sure the dealer puts an emergency flag on the order and keep you updated once a week on status. My service advisor says it helps when you do that

Thanks for the reply! I actually called ford customer service and the put the back ordered part as emergent. It's been 2 weeks. Good to know that your part showed up fairly quickly. I'm hoping for the same outcome and resolution. Are you listening Ford?! lol

My latest timeline quote is now September 15th, my original quote was July 26th. A least I got almost a month of driving my Mach E before it crapped out, Sorry dude!

I have talked to a few lawyers. it is actually a legitimate case and you are entitled to a car buy out minus the wear and tear for a month or a new vehicle. Additionally, you are entitled to a loaner vehicle for the time beeing.

I have no idea what my timeline is because my dealer is clueless. But make sure to contact ford and have them place an emergent status on the vehicle because it is a downed unit.

I am having the EXACT same issue. I was charging the vehicle at the dealer and when I unplugged it and turned it on I got the SAME message plus some more... NO POWER STEERING AT ALL!! Luckily I was at the Ford Dealership when it happened last Saturday 8/14/21. I am in a rental and they think its the "steering Module". Now the problem is the steering module is NOT AVAILABLE until September 13 at the earliest. How did the dealer finally resolve your issue? Was it software or hardware repair?
Any help at this point is GREATLY appreciated!!!! ps I have about 1900 miles on mine and it arrived for purchase on 06/16/2021 after waiting 6.5 months after ordering. It is an AWD with ext batt. THANK YOU!! -Tim

Hey Tim,

Sounds like this is across the board ford power steering control module defect on select units (potential recall in the brewing). Ford has not came up with any statement or any resolutions. The only fix from what I know is to have the power steering module replaced. It might be worth your while for you to call Ford at 800-631-3788 and file a case. The can help expedite things (change the order to Emergent downed unit status) plus they might throw in a free maintenance plan or some other freebie to make mends.

As for my car the original estimate part arrival was September 3rd. I have not heard any updates since. My unit has been down since August 5th.

Hope this helps.

Ford will require the dealer to basically almost disassemble the entire front of your car, pull out the steering module and then test the circuit to make sure that is good. They will also do something with the steering if that is working or not. If neither works, Ford will put in an order.

make sure the dealer puts it as an emergency order. I’d also recommend messaging Ford Motor Company on the forums here. They will take your information and create a case for you and elevate it to their SUV customer experience team. Eventually someone from this team will contact you.

The exact same thing happened to me on July 3rd, the day that I was leaving for vacation. I had only had my car for exactly one month. It is August 9 more than a month later and still no word on the part for my car. My car is still at my local Ford and fortunately they have had loaner car for me to use. Today I was informed that the projected delivery date is now 9/3. At that point in time I will have made three car payments while my car was in the shop! Everyone at our local dealership has been phenomenal, national not so much. With my last interaction with customer service the person on the phone told me that Ford doesn’t care and that they are not responsible. I am 59 years old and this is my very first Ford I’ve ever purchased, as much as I love my Mach E, this may very well be the last Ford I buy.
Hi There! Go ahead and send us a message with the VIN and mileage of your Mach E. I'd like to see what I can do to assist with this part delay. Thanks!

I must have at least a half a dozen cases open between myself and my local dealership. I was told that they would expedite my case. The timeline went from July 26th to August 17 to August 29th to September 5 and now the latest is September 18th. I am not holding out much hope.

I wish I had faith that you could expedite my part but I’ve been told at least a dozen times by multiple people that my part has been expedited. The timeline went from July 26th to August 17 to August 29th to September 5 and now the latest is September 18th. I am not holding out much hope. There have been multiple people on different forums that have only had to wait a couple weeks for their part and for their car to be repaired. I’m not sure why this is but I’m getting very frustrated. As I’ve mentioned before this is my very first Ford and is very likely to be my last.

I however must say that for the short time that I had my MME, I absolutely loved it! That is what makes it so hard. If it was just a mediocre car, I would have just sent it back and not have a second thought about it. I really don’t want to do that. I am a nurse in rural Vermont and I need reliable transportation to get back and forth to work. I traded in a very reliable Toyota that I love for my MME.
