Hello,

I'm following your path and got a Torklift eco hitch installed last week. I just went and tried one of the Yakima Exo racks out and two pieces came uncomfortably close to the rear door or bumper. 1) the little lock that secures the top shelf is about 1/2 inch from the rear hatch and 2) the big plastic lever that tightens the swing base almost touches the rear bumper when loosened all the way. Did you find that to be problematic at all? Did you end up getting an extension for your hitch to address these issues? Are you having any problems with the back cameras or sensors? Thanks in advance for any answers you can provide and I hope the rack is doing well for you!
This hitch extender is the simplest solution I got for the same problem. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in...vCHCa1boSW7oxudoeGABTukLRPhtx9dBoCcf8QAvD_BwE

Thanks! If you have the Exo, what has been your experience with it so far?
I love it. Only issue was needing the extended to make sure the wheel holders don’t bump the tailgate. Install wasn’t too bad but make sure you check alignment prior to closing it all back up as mine was off enough to where it bothered me and I had to loosen the bolts and retighten after straightening.

Quick update on this setup. I found out that Yakima makes a 7” hitch extender (StraighShot) to help move the SwingBase further away from the rear and get better clearance.
And expanded with the cargo basket (EXO GearWarrior), and a soft side waterproof cargo bag that just fits in the basket instead of the EXO GearLocker (for now).

So I went with the Yakima EXO solution. Got the Torklift Ecohitch and installed it yesterday. Here is testing the setup with bike rack only. Will eventually get the cargo box to replace the roof top box, and the EXO Top Shelf so that I’ll be able to carry the bikes and cargo box at same time from the hitch.

Has anyone just taken the wheel off and put it in the back with the seats down?

That is an interesting way to go, I'm curious how much that air dam on the top lowers range with the added resistance of the bike(s) and how much weight the glass roof is rated to hold. Granted most bikes don't weight a lot, but knowing how hard it has been to get any spare parts for repairs (or if warranty would even cover cracks caused by doing this) I'd be optimistically hesitant.

That's what we ALL do unless we have our family or a bunch of stuff in the car. At which point we need a rack, which started this discussion :)
No, not all. It's just the most pragmatic solution and the least thought of.

It doesn't seem as easy with an Ebike though, and I haven't seen one photo of that. Never have done it, so not sure.

Considering Tesla roofs have flown off and Mach E roofs have had seal/noise issues without these, I'm not sure attaching one of these to a glass roof would be my first choice.
