Are you in the early access program? Have you reported this to them?
I'm in early access for BlueCruise (which I don't have yet)... but not otherwise. So I don't think that's why I received the OTA 1.7.1. Although I also don't see an option to report anything.

2 things I thought were coming but not on my car:
1) Dash power meter for breaking/accel power use + any limiting that might be happening
2) Portrait car play - when expanding "main app", dead space taken up by the CarPlay UI.
Those features are not included with 1.7.1.

So I think I seem to be stuck in some weird limbo with this update. After seeing people post the other day that it appears this OTA was more widely released I checked my home router logs to see if anything was recently downloaded and noticed that the MME did in fact download about 2 GB over two sessions (part when I came home from work two days ago and part yesterday morning).

received_277728824226539.webp

When I went into the updates screen in the car it said that I was up to date and listed 1.7.1, despite the fact that I never received a notification that I got an OTA (as I did with 1.4 and 1.6). Ok cool, whatever. But when I go to look for the notes app or any other new feature from 1.7.1, it's not there... and the automatic updates option is disabled now in the settings page and I can't toggle it on. I'll give it a few more days I guess, but I'm slightly concerned that it's stuck now.
You may be seeing this because this is the first big OTA update. My take on the Extended PIDs I saw in FDRS, and commented on earlier in this thread, is the system can download in the background over several sessions. What you are seeing is likely the result of the download process. It is common to lock out user controls that affect a active process. It may have already downloaded the info for the updates screen. The Fordpass notification comes when the process is complete. It would be interesting to look at the Extended PIDs and see the values.

I suspect you will see a similar sequence when BlueCruise is done OTA.

I'm not at all surprised by the download coming in multiple parts given the size. I assume that the MME only stays connected for a set amount of time then turns off. The first bigger part came when I got home from work, then the next part came when I turned it on in the morning. The only thing that is odd to me is that the software update screen shows that PowerUp 1.7.1 is what's installed despite it not actually being "installed" yet and only downloaded. I'll give it a few more days before I panic too much.

I'm sort of in your camp...my update screen used to say "Up to date with 1.6." and now it just says "Up to date" after I got a failed install the other day. No notes app, etc, though. So I'm wondering if the update is stuck or something.

I am still on 1.6.

As far as a calculator, I just use hey google - I don't have to take my eyes off the road.

If I want to know my approximate GOM range at a 100% charge, I just take the remaining mileage, add two zeros to it and divide by the remaining percentage

Mileage displayed is 285 miles Remaining percentage is 86%

Hey google what is twenty eight thousand five hundred divided by eighty six?

Response: "28500 / 86 is approximately 331.395"

I always say thank you, but it never says you are welcome..... Kind of rude!!!

This doesn't work with Hey Ford, BTW.

:)

Back on topic: got the update today. No notification yet in the car (just says "up to date"), or in FordPass, but I have the notes app, touchscreen beep is gone, non-functioning frunk button is under "Access" (not in FordPass), CarPlay directions (doesn't work with Google Maps).

2 things I thought were coming but not on my car:
1) Dash power meter for breaking/accel power use + any limiting that might be happening
2) Portrait car play - when expanding "main app", dead space taken up by the CarPlay UI.

Sync version is now 21174 revision 168 instead of 20312 rev 243
This is almost what I have right now - the update, but no indication that it was successfully pushed and it only says up to date in both FordPass and Sync. I don’t have the non-functional front trunk button in Sync though. I do have the Calm screen by pushing the volume knob.

Exact same with us; what appears to be the update, but no indication anywhere. Now I'm wondering if there are things which weren't completed which I haven't noticed.

Just being enrolled in Early Access is why you got targeted for the 1.7.1 update. It is only going to Early Access people for now.

On the early access page there is a link to contact them. its just an email address.

That’s interesting. It’s the first time I’ve heard/seen this. If so, then I appear to have a slightly botched 1.7.1 update, since the system is no longer telling me I have 1.6.0, but it also is not telling me I have 1.7.1, yet I have some features that people are saying are part of 1.7.1.
Normally, when users are part of some kind of early adopter program, they are alerted whenever the program is going to send them something, so they know to be on the lookout for the change, and to report back to the program if something unusual happens. How does Ford expect to get feedback from us if they do not tell us they’re trying to do something?

I mean, I think they'll certainly get feedback if it doesn't work. They can see what cars have properly applied the update and what hasn't, so they don't need to email everyone when its coming and have everyone say they got it or did not, they can see that. If the update ends up messing something up, they'll hear about it by you taking it to the dealer.

You’re assuming I’ll take it to the dealer ? You seem to forget how much fun it is to come on here and speculate at random about what may or may not be going on with the update. Also, what would my dealer say/do? From their perspective, there is no problem. The car says the software is up-to-date, and it’s running without issues, so why am I there?

I hit this same spot yesterday. I had to do a sync reboot because my touchscreen wouldn't turn on, and after my next stop I got the failed message. It said it would try "next update" which I hope means next schedule uptime time.

I do appear to have the calm screen now, which I thought was new in 1.7.1, but now I'm doubting my memory.

Yes, the calm screen is new for 1.7.1, from what I understand. Weird that you only got part of it.

I got 1.6.0 via OTA a few months ago. Then I randomly got 1.4.0 today? I honestly thought I already had it. But saw the update and thought it was 1.7.1 ?
