That is true...... But I wouldn't use mach e for this type of shopping at all. it is a little too small and not tough enough for this job. I have a "workhorse" car for that.
America, where a 2.5t vehicle with 582nm of torque and 1420l of cargo space isn't 'tough' enough to move some mulch.

The interior is not designed for that. It is not rugged and filled with too many fragile features.

I prefer to call it the rear cargo area instead of a trunk. For me, wet stuff back there is pretty common this time of year. It’s duck season. Wet dog doesn’t belong in the frunk.
Do you have a Pudelpointer?!

That's what the load liner is for, to protect the interior. You've answered your own question!
So the ultimate answer is that you need the liner if you intend to use your mme as a workhorse. Otherwise there is no point of getting it

This is a bizarre thread.

Literally anyone that's owned and used an SUV and cares about their car not getting nasty and gross and being able to clean up well and not look trashed in the back understands the value of a cargo liner...not to mention the benefits of not having stuff sliding around in the back for any number of reasons.

The entire thread is people telling you why they use the liner. You either are being purposely obtuse or are the densest person on the planet.

This is such an odd thread to read.

@Rt1AWD did an old flame cheat on you with a liner in the past or something? You seem to really have it in for these things. ?

Edit: Haha, before I could even get my post typed out, I see 2 others have similar thoughts.

I know this thread is about the plastic liner in the rear cargo area, but Dave, after you mentioned dog hair, I thought I would throw these photos up here. It takes forever to remove white hair from black carpet and I've tried several vacuum tools and other devices. After adding the CanvasBack liner, no need to worry about that anymore. Easy to clean and easy to install/remove. I got the optional bumper protector so when Riley jumps in and out, no scratches.

Right? I don't understand this either. I ordered the interior protection package to protect the interior. Anyone who uses this car for daily driving and errands would understand the point of having liners...things spill and it's very difficult to clean up with that fabric.

That's all well and good for dog people, I was just bringing up that fact about the hair getting everywhere and being really tough to clean. I'm a cat guy and mine doesn't do car rides =)

That is the point. After owning Mitsubishi Outlander for 18 years I don't understand it. The trunk tray still looks good. From time to time I just take it out, vacuum well and that's it.
And if I'd destroy it somehow, I would probably find another one available to buy somewhere.
I absolutely understand the value of the floor mats, but the trunk liner seems like a ballast to me

It's a (relatively) free country. If you want a liner, buy it and move on. If you don't, that's fine, too.
This is too trivial to try and convince each other one way or the other.

Full disclaosure - I have a liner. I didn't have a use case when I bought it. I haul stuff in my F150. It is easier to clean than fabric. I don't even know where the stuff comes from that I've cleaned out from back there. There's a bunch of grainy white stuff I need to vacuum out today - no idea what it is or its origin.

I'm just planning what accessories to buy before my MME arrives. Definitely floor mats, but not sure about the trunk liner.
