I simply don't understand what the fuss is about. If someone who missed out on the first FE reservation, they could/can simply get one of these new ones. What's the problem?

Demand is greater than supply for the FE, so only a small % of those that missed out can, so some are frustrated that some are going to new customers instead of existing reservation holders that want to switch from premium to FE.

I had no problem getting one a day or so ago by calling the number. Maybe less complaining and more dialing the 844 number would have been better.

You clearly don’t understand the purpose of the Internet: complaining, cat videos and porn (or some combination of those).
Oh, no--now I will never be able to look at my cat again when I find him snuggled up against the keyboard....

And this whole fiasco will have zero effect on the number of Mach-E’s Ford can build / deliver this initial year of production --- 2020 – 2021.

That’s limited by the finite battery availability to about 50,000 vehicles --- 20,000 NA & 30,000 Europe.

That's a great point. They had nothing to gain by bypassing reservation priority and open FEs for 2020 delivery to the general public first since all MMEs are sure to sell anyway. And probably already accounted for.

According to trutolife27, Ford got "triple the expected response" for the Mach-e.

WRONG.

Corrected: "...and would prefer they simply offer them first to the people that reserved vehicles and were told that there were no longer FEs left".

It's really simple. All they had to do was start a waitlist when it started to look like they would have some leftover FEs (after telling people on Nov 26 that they had to reserve something else). Then simply award upgrades to those on the waitlist according to reservation priority. That's why there was a reservation system in the first place - to determine who gets priority. Otherwise don't even bother with a reservation system at all.
If you want an First Edition.....I hope you are able to get one. I really do.
I also understand your frustration but it may be a little misguided. It might be helpful to remember the responsibility here is between the buyer (you) and the seller (your dealership). Ford isn't really a factor in this other than they are providing product and marketing. Legally speaking, Ford isn't allowed to directly interface with the end user for point of sale activities. The dealership has to make the sale. The primary purpose of the reservation system is to match up a buyer with a seller and that process has played out with some minor glitches but otherwise it worked pretty well. Even the Mach Drop isn't a sale activity....it us just another way to connect potential buyers with the sellers (dealerships).

I believe Ford did give reservation holders first consideration when they notified their dealer network the week prior to the "Mach Drop" campaign. That was your chance before the offers went public. Did you make your dealership aware that you were interested in a First Edition if they become available? If so, then your dealer dropped the ball. If you didn't make them aware, or at least inquire when a few of us posted that our dealers contacted us then you should share some of the responsibility.

If you are still interested in a FE, the first and second opportunities have come and gone. There still is a third opportunity and that involves your dealer, so stay in contact with them and hope they can get you paired with one. Good luck!

Fair points, and I would agree except for one big caveat... If Ford really did attempt an official round of "these extra FEs are being offered to res/order holders first", then they still dropped the ball by only announcing it to dealers and not res/order holders. Ford has to be painfully aware by now how grossly ill-informed most of their dealers are about the Mach-e and this entire convoluted process. I'm betting the % of res/order holders that were contacted by their dealer the prior week was <1%.

And without customers knowing that more FEs were being made available, res/order holders wouldn't know to even ask their dealer about it. Ford made it crystal clear back in November there were no more FEs, so end of story unless Ford says otherwise directly to the res/order holders. Instead, the only word from Ford came from these cryptic machdrop tweets to the general public.

For me, this isn't even really about my upgrade. Would I love to get an FE before the end of the year? Sure. But if they did it the way I keep saying they should have (start a waitlist and award by res priority), they'd surely be long gone before they got to my 29k res# anyway. I'm really just speaking to the fairness of the process as a whole, not just for me but for the other thousands that have been waiting in line for 9-10 months too.

I understand that it is what it is. I'll still love my MME regardless, whether FE in December or Premium in April. But I hold fairness and good customer service by companies in high regard, and this is a needless black mark on Ford's IMO. And worthy of discussion, although I sure didn't expect 26 pages of it. ?

To summarize the situation:
Ford gave terms last year back in November. They have been trying to keep those terms as best as reasonably possible with Covid pandemic. All is happy with those having a reservation and order, even if the missed the deadline to reserve a FE. Without changing the terms of those that have a reservation and order in place, Ford decides to make some FE that were canceled available. Several are annoyed and jealous that Ford decides to make those available to new customers, and would prefer that the canceled vehicles were never offered to anyone if they couldn't have them.
Learn to read critically. 26+ pages on this thread and you've yet to comprehend what the complaints about the #machdrop are. Amazing.

Assuming Ford would have changed their mind and not built all these FE's (to sell them to a walk-on customer at a dealership).
To all those that were pushed back (10 minutes to 2 hours) by me upgrading from a back of the line Premium Res/Order to a front of the line FE, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Personally, seeing a couple of hundred FE's showing up on the dealer lots would have been worse than someone cutting in the Reservation line.

That's good because NONE of those scenarios are what people are saying Ford should have done instead.

I don't get why "start a waitlist and award them by reservation priority" is so hard to understand.

Hold on to your hats everyone . . . NOT part of the "Mach Drop" and not a ME FE but Ford HAS dropped the price of Grabber Blue Mustangs for everyone that wanted one. Very affordable. Not just for celebrities and influencers . . . from the email I just got . . .

I like the Mach-E section of the Ford Merchandise Store better.

Unless you have info otherwise, wouldn't it be fair to assume all the new FE orders go to the back of the line?
I have no reason that Ford has made any change to their original plan to make and deliver First Editions first. Originally that would probably have meant ALL FEs. However, I think it is likely to be the North American FEs with EU/UK FEs produced at the start of the EU/UK run around December.
