I know this topic has been hashed over and over again but I figure I'd share my experience.

As background, I took delivery in September of my August-built, Star White ER RWD Premium. Since then, I've thoroughly enjoyed the heck out of it both as an EV and a cool tech platform for all the new driver assistance gadgets that I regularly use. My two complaints were the ride quality (harsh but took some of the PSIs out of my overinflated tires and it helped) and the wind noise where the windshield meets the panoramic roof.

In my particular case, the wind noise wasn't horrific but it was definitely noticeable and just annoying enough to irritate me. It would start at every time I went 30MPH so essentially, I heard it all the time. There is an obvious misalignment between the windshield and the glass roof. In the middle of the windshield that gap is about a quarter-inch thick so it's no mystery that the noise originated from there.

I read the other DIY fixes on the board (adhesive tape and tube inserts), but wanted something that was a) very easy to do and b) didn't look awful. I especially didn't want a superwide piece of tape. So I bought this from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K43BT61?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) for a whopping $12 and installed it in approximately 5 minutes.

I immediately took it out for a spin on a nice smooth road outside my neighborhood and behold, wind noise banished! When on the highway, and yup, noise gone as well. Now, I do have an appointment at the dealership for them to fix it, but they said a tech guy is going to listen for wind noise before they do anything. I'm guessing it'll be 50-50 whether they do anything about it as I'll remove the tape before bringing it. If they choose not to fix it, I'll explain what I did and how it helped and if they STILL choose not to fix it, I'll just reapply the tape myself!

Anywho, hope this is useful to anybody else out there. I'm not sure it's a permanent fix, but we'll see how long the tape lasts once it hits some weather and usage.

Someone else managed to do it with the seal marketed to the Model 3/Y and it just shoves right in! Seems like a necessary addition. I wonder if the windshield/roof recall will fix this as they're not adding foam all around the pano roof. Is your car effected by the recall?

Following this to see how it wears over time. But still, glad to see the fix was cheap and easy!

Luckily no, but there is something out there (from Ford) about the wind issue and a dealer-fix which involves *SHOCK* rubber tubing and adhesive!

Yeah, I think that’s for earlier models only right? At least the bulletin. I guess if they hear it on your car, maybe they’ll still do it.

Happens on all of them, I think it’s just the Air moving through that channel/space. I just got my tape yesterday. I am hopefully looking for a warm day to install it.

Model Y folk use this:

https://www.rpmtesla.com/collection...ion-kit-29-with-20-off?variant=31266582265910

But that's probably overkill because the Y has massive door gaps and a large gap on the rear hatch where it meets the top.

I have leftover bits from the above kit and may try to install some around the top of the windshield or the frunk. The rest of the car seems better sealed than the Y.

***UPDATE!!!***

Well, first the good... the tape was cheap, the tape worked; it was easy to apply onto the gap and it didn't look too ugly!

The bad... it didn't last long! I was driving down the parkway when all of a sudden I started hearing a "WHAP! WHAP! WHAP!" with no idea what was going on. I looked up through the panoramic roof and saw the tape whipping all around and slapping down everywhere!

The root issue was that the tape was just too narrow. It couldn't quite bridge the gap that I was trying to cover and wherever it didn't, the wind was eventually able to slowly start dislodging it. Luckily, it was super easy to pull off and it left no residue.

SO, back to the drawing board. I had an appointment to go to the Ford dealership to go fix it last week, thinking it'd be a one, maybe two hour wait. WRONG. They said it'd be all day (to literally do almost the same thing I did in 5 minutes!!!) so I got out of there and bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CCR7QH3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

This tape is a) a little bit wider than the original I bought b) has a two-part sticky part with a divot in the middle that allows it to bridge any gaps and c) was equally cheap and easy to apply.

I spent a little bit of time cleaning the windshield and the pano roof before installing it and so far, so good. It's been on two weeks and have driven through storms, rain, and heavy winds and it's been sticking on real nice. I figure I'll eventually get the dealer to do their fix but it's good to know I've good a DYI solution in case they screw it up!

Thanks for sharing the product info ....I ordered the 1/4 inch foam tubing from Grainger that other MME owners referenced in another thread on this topic to stuff in the crevasse, but haven't installed yet.

Any pics of your end product you could share?

Some pics of the install would be great but glad to hear the experiment largely worked! Did you find highway speeds to be quieter then?

Yup, happy to! I'll nip down to the garage in a bit and take some pics and post them.
How's it holding up? I did the Model 3 road noise kit but my GT PE definitely sounds way louder than my Premium. Really looking for a solution.
