For anyone waiting on the Union Pacific Railcar(s) - Last update is PORTOLA ----- CALIFORNIA! at 1:52 today with the ETA staying at 12/24. Convoluted path of about 250 miles remains to Benicia - perhaps it will beat the upcoming storm with heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada Range.

My concerned daughter in Minneapolis sent me this-

Yeah the fact that made a newspaper is not good. I also love to figure out why the maverick got caught so much sooner than Mach E or did thry just want to keep pumping out cars. Like stop for a week and do it right

So it’s not just me. Is there any rhyme or reason to when the puddle lights come on??
From my experience, to get the puddle lights on you have to have your keys disconnect. Since the PaaK keeps connected for like 50 feet and stays connected it’s hard to get the puddle lights to turn on. Knowing this, I simply turned off my Bluetooth and walked like 25 feet away with my fob and then came back, they came on. Basically the PaaK is great for some things but is a bit too good at maintaining connection and I think it messes with the intended puddle lights. I’m honestly fine with this. I like being surprised when they do turn on. Makes it more special when it does. And I like being able to open the frunk and remote starting from my bedroom when I’m getting ready. A bit clunky, but kind of how all Bluetooth tech is. I think the tech is pretty good for what it is. One other tip I’ve learned in my short time with the car, turn on the car first thing, as soon as you step into the car, before putting on your seatbelt or anything else. I wish it started up a little quicker or I could skip the animation with a setting, but haven’t noticed any lag after changing the order of doing things when I get in.

Well this is interesting.

Got the email from Ford last night saying complete your purchase.
Text this morning from Dealer saying when you want to come in. I asked about the Seat Belt and they said that my car was not affected by it. If it was they would take care of it at the depot and not have it delivered to the dealership. In fact, they do have other clients who's cars are affected and they're being held at the depot.

I scheduled pickup for Sunday, and I'll see if this plays out.

Timeframe for reference.

I got the email to complete your purchase this morning.

Contacted my dealer and they said the car was about to make it to Salt Lake City. They told me weeks ago it was in SLC and was waiting for a transport and driver to bring it to ID.

Dealer did not know how long it would take to get it. The email is premature or they are expecting me to pay before looking the car over!

So the wait continues. My tax strategy for 2021 is boogered up and now who knows how long it will take for the seat belt repair to be completed.

I did talk with my dealer and I was affected (not that I didn't expect something different). I know someone had mentioned to just slowly take out from 2022, however if the rebate changes or something else happens, I don't want to be in a bad spot (sorry NO_ICE!). We will have to see how this goes, but if we lose out on rebate money simply because of the safety recall, Ford will be in a tough marketing spot.

According to the Ford notice the instructions for making the repair is supposed to get to the dealer by January 3rd. My estimate is 2-3 weeks after that dealers will have the parts to make the repairs.

My dealer has indicated they will take payment. So if (big giant if) my car makes it to dealership in 2021 then I may proceed with that. Buy the car and leave at dealer to get the seat belt repair.

The complete purchase email I got today is really irritating.

Union Pacific Westbound Bay Area Railcar Update.
Yesterday the railcar traveled from Winnemucca NV into California and over the Sierra Nevada mountain range into the Feather River Canyon down into Oroville then down the Valley and arrived at Roseville after Midnight. The current update reports a scheduled Arrival in 'Bahia' CA at 6:20 AM tomorrow. This seems to be Benicia.

I figure the various types of railcars are sorted in the very large Roseville railyard, shown below, for various destinations. Logistics.

As I understand it, these are all reports on California bound cars that were moved early off the train when it got to KC. My MME had a more relaxed time in KC It took the late train that has yet to move through Wyoming, likely due to the weather. Thanks for the updates and pictures.... I am trying to be patient and not be jealous, but you are making it hard!

By depot, are you meaning Kansas City? My dealer told me my car is part of the recall, and I know it’s due to arrive at the dealer tomorrow…

I don’t think Ford will hold seat belt recall cars from getting to dealers.

Folks in the recall will not get their cars until sometime in January/February provided the repair parts are available.

I would like to see my car and touch it, maybe even sit in it but it will not be in my driveway until parts arrive and repairs made. I suppose I could visit it a few times a week.

It is good to know that per the recall the dealer cannot let folks test drive non repaired MMEs.

First impressions: a lot to learn, but wow, what a car! Gets up to ridiculous speeds insanely fast.

During my first test drive, I was a bit surprised how I didn’t get the butterflies I expected. On my way home though, when I floored it, I definitely got them. Holy sh*t - it was in a better state for full power I guess. Going to have to learn how to regulate that well. Perhaps it was too cold during the test drive and needed to warm up. I’ve got a 40 mile trip tomorrow morning, so I’ve scheduled a departure. I didn’t see any gray bars that others had mentioned

I’m really impressed with interior quality, but I’m also coming from a second gen Volt.

Got two fobs, Blue Cruise works (only got to test for about 10 seconds), and opened frunk from the screen.
Thanks for sharing. Silver looks great! Also coming from a gen2 Volt.

So, my car made it to my dealer on the first day of the promised delivery range (12/21 - 12-27), and I got the email from ford to finalize the purchase late that day. The dealer asked when I wanted to come in and finalize the purchase, and then called me back a few hours later saying that it was part of the seat belt recall, and I could not take delivery, but I could still pay for it so that I could get the tax benefit in 2021.

However, the reality was a bit more complex -- We went to the dealer today and saw the car and confirmed it was mine. The salesguy said I could purchase it today, but they couldn't release it to me until the recall was performed. They did tell me that they were obliged to hold the car for me until I said I didn't want it, so they would not sell it out from under me. We started asking the tough questions, and the salesguy went and got his manager -- If I traded in my old car as part of the purchase, what was I supposed to do -- would they give me a loaner? the answer was no, but they would "loan" my trade-in back to me in the interim. If I was doing financing, would I have to pay for the time before I got the car -- the answer was yes, and they couldn't do anything about that.

The salesguy offered to go get the car off the remote lot and drive it up to the showroom for us to look at, and the manager nearly jumped down his throat saying: "no one is allowed to drive the car until the recall service is performed!"

Then it came out that if I purchased it without taking delivery, they couldn't really conclude the purchase and transfer title to me. Ford won't allow them to recognize the purchase as finalized, and I wouldn't be able to apply for new plates, etc. So, I think they (and other dealers in the same position) are just trying to book some revenue, and are providing the flimsiest of justification for the tax credit, which I suspect would not hold up if the IRS started poking around. . .

We told them that we weren't interested in closing the deal until we could take delivery.

So now we wait.

Thank you for sharing your experience. No matter how many ways I tried to make paying and not taking possession work, I always came up short.

No way around it; we are not getting our cars or the 2021 tax credit in 2021.

The question now is how long will it take to get the seat belt repair? January? February?

Walking away is now something we are pondering. Depreciation, tax plan blown, possibly a smaller rebate, no mileage increase upgrade and unknown potential damage caused by the seat belt repair.

No, this is the local Depot before it gets delivered to the dealership itself. So in my case it's San Bernardino.
