Honestly if I could spend $90k on a vehicle, I would have ordered a Rivian

With all I’ve heard about the Rivian, I thought it was a big ol’ truck. Parked next to each other it appears the same size as the MME but with a little higher ground clearance and an open bed rather than a hatchback.

You’re correct.

R1T: 0-60: 3.1-3.4 secs. 1/4 mile: 11.6-11.8@111-112mph. And, it does that while weighing 7200 lbs.

I bolded the 1/4 mile trap speeds for reasons ???

I think they fell a bit too much in love with their styling exercise.

I can see a new styling trend developing.... I'm not ready to drive a shuttlecraft-look'n car.

In one write-up I saw that each wheel has its own motor. It's claimed that it will do a 'tank turn', spinning in its own axis.

At $68K and $74K it had better be one heckofa truck.

400 mile battery, +$10,000.

Size wise, it’s length is between a Ranger and an F150. Pretty narrow for a modern truck/suv (so check out the backseats if you’re really trying to fit 5) and a modest bed. I think it’s perceived to be big bc of the insane weight. It can adjust its ground clearance to 14ā€ so that will be 9ā€ better than that GT.

Only took 835hp too!

It is a feat to make that heavy of a truck that fast.

Honestly, not sure why they made it so fast. It’s like they answered a question no one asked. I also wonder what that kinda power is going to do for the durability of this truck.

Still kinda cool. Just wish it wasn’t ugly and wasn’t made by an unknown company.

This was the best angle I could get for a photo to directly compare sizes. There was a big box truck angle parked across the street which prevented me from taking a pic from a perpendicular perspective.

I chatted with the driver a bit and he said he loved it but the software was needing some bug fixes. He had the R1T in its lowest setting.

That unknown company is now the 5th most valuable auto company in the world. Ford is 8th.
Totally makes sense.?

How many cars have they sold? How much profit have they made? What’s their sales projections for the next few years and how do they compare to Ford?

Seems like too many people don’t remember what happened when the tech bubble burst in 2000. Throwing billions of dollars at unprofitable companies doesn’t end well.

In the end, it will always fall back to earnings. Just a matter of time.

I didn’t say it made sense.
I am honestly very intrigued by Rivian. I hope they succeed. Takes some gusto to come to market with your first vehicle being something that doesn’t exist in the market….. anywhere.

First EV truck to market
Fastest production truck ever

It’s either crazy or genius. We shall see. I’m just worried the novelty may wear off.

The whole ā€œsport truckā€ category seems like it died years ago. How long has it been since someone made a fast street truck? Ram SRT? Early 2000s Lightning?

They stopped making them likely because there wasn’t much profit in that category.
