Had my MME for about 2 months, 1900 miles (central VA). Yesterday I drove into Lowes and something punctured the side wall of the RF tire. No spare and the can of goop and compressor was no help. Called Ford Roadside Asst and they quickly showed up and took me to the dealer a couple miles away. They didn't have a replacement in stock, but drove me home. They called today at 1400 and picked me up to get my MME. A 10+ experience. But they charged me $280 for the non-warranty work. Couldn't argue because they had my car. No pay, no car.
I figured there ought to be more to tire warranty than tread wear. Googling, it's all over the map. Called Ford CS [800 392-3673] and got a knowledgeable lady who understood the problem. She ended up calling my dealer who said that it was not a defect problem (agreed), but "normal wear and tear" (disagree). Said I might have to bump it up to Corporate. She said "this is Corporate". My thought is that dealerships shouldn't be the arbitor for Ford. Tire manufacturer sites for Michelin (which this is) say that "road hazards" are not covered. End of argument unless Ford wants to sell me another car. Checked my insurance. Seems like any coverage would be under Comprehensive, but I have a $500 dedustible, so dead end there.
So, I'm resorting to my best Knowledge Base (not a last resort), this forum for advice / similarities. I know that Ford watches this list, and have had "conversations" with their very helpful Social Media Specialists who seems to have exerted outside influence to get things resolved.
TIA to all,
Don

I’m my experience, road hazards tire warranties are not included for most brands. The crappy part of the free roadside assistance is having to take it to the dealership.
i would have pulled the tire off and taken it to a regular tire shop. Or shove some tar strips in there and slowly drive back home lol.

You SOL. New cars always have disclaimers covering tire warranties. If you didn’t buy a tire/wheel policy there’s no coverage.

Do you have a local tire dealer that you do business with? If so, maybe they can get you something if you still have the tire.

Get it towed to someplace like Firestone or a local tire-shop next time, and perhaps keep a spare from TireRack on-hand at home.

When you get a new vehicle, Discount Tire will sell you a road hazard warranty for roughly $40 a tire. Yes, even when they didn't sell you the tires.

OP, replies are correct. No warranty for road hazards.

This same thing has happened to me before, once with Toyota, another time with Ford. Every new car purchase (or used car, for that matter) does not carry a road hazard warranty for the tires. It is available through some dealerships as an extra cost policy, usually as part of the extended/expanded warranty costing hundreds or thousands of dollars (and according to dozens of phone calls I have gotten recently, my warranty has expired!!). Just today, I got a slow leak fixed on one tire on my 8000 mile Mach E. Dealer charged me $25 to fix it, about what I expected. If the damage is in the sidewall, some states will not allow anyone to fix it - tire must be replaced. When my cars get old enough to require new tires, I always pay the $15 or so per tire for road hazard insurance for the life of the tread. In the last 50 years, I have purchased many, many sets of tires with road hazard coverage, only collected on one tire. I am now rethinking that strategy!!

Thanx for all the insight. I guess this is the first time in 60 years of driving that I've had anything other than a "flat". May consider getting a real spare to carry along. Will let Ford Roadside change it for me. Better than killing a day with the towing ritual.

As I noted, you can buy a warranty from Discount Tire when you get a new car. I suspect your price of $15 is way off nowadays. I know Discount Tire varies it depending on the tire size.

Make sure you strap that spare tire/wheel down securely. Keep in mind you have no jack either, make sure you know the jacking points to ensure the tow driver lifts properly, and knows that it's 150 ft pounds of torque, not 100 like most cars.
