Very interesting. A balanced review of the experience. I'm pleasantly surprised by some of the good things said here.

Woof, those laps were tough to watch. He kept getting power cuts. People who bought this to track it should be pissed, and they clearly are lol then again…An electric Mustang hatch wouldn’t be my first choice for track car.

Ford hopefully will address this, but seeing how baaad the throttling in this video was, things may be more dire than we think. Software update may never come.

Saving grace of sorts? As he says at the end of the video, this car is a lot of fun to drive. For most of us, that will be enough.

2022 GTPE (sold after 2mo - suspension sucks!)

Man, I absolutely hate that track. SUPER bumpy, not very interesting layout, complete *ss-end of nowhere. Not worth the tow from anywhere, IMHO.

Interesting video, though. ?

Very interesting, I'm definitely waiting for warmer (and drier) weather before taking mine out. Halfway tempted to go back to the track I took my V8 GT on like 8 years ago and see how it does, top speed I got back then was ~120 ish so the MME GT might fare a little better on that course.

Why the hell would anyone want to track a 5000 pound battery-powered SUV? I am not really commenting on the GT's power concerns. I just can't see why anyone would choose to do that, regardless, other than maybe once just for curiosity's sake.
I understand why magazines/reviewers do it.. to uncover flaws, etc. But an owner?

Why not? EVs are the future so I think that all electric vehicles that are marketed as performance vehicles should be competent on the track. Looking towards the future, I'd really prefer not to burn gasoline... I guess I'll suffer for a few years until EV tech catches up.

Agreed, that was nice to hear. I'm never going to track this thing, but I'll enjoy my drives on the back roads.

The original firmware started throttling back at 80% on DC fast charging, but it sounds like his car needs the firmware update that NOW supports faster charging speed to 90% SOC on DC FC.

Patrick covered that on the Mach E Vlog a month ago.

He must've recorded this about 1 week after my sessions @ Big Willow in early Jan. Very similar experience. Other drivers were amazed I brought an EV SUV to the track! Even the other Mustang owners were curious-- great group of guys. Xlnt brakes & handling & top-notch stability. Got to 112 on front straight pretty consistently-- perhaps due to warmer weather on my day. My times were about 10 secs slower-- but it was my 1st time @ Big Willow! Throttle limits the fun if top speed is your #1 priority. 98% of the rest of the time I love this car! No DC Fast Chargers at this track is a bummer-- not really practical for consistent sessions. I'll pick Buttonwillow or Fontana for my next Track day.

Great write up. Question: Did you use Unbridled or Unbridled Extended?

36 degree exterior temps and 66% state of charge.

What a waste. The car is NEVER going to perform well in those conditions.

There is another, recent thread in which someone posted that they were in a conversation with Ford engineers and it was let out that a software update is likely coming in May for the 5 second power limiter. Speculation was that it would jump to 10 seconds. I take it with a grain of salt . . . for what it's worth . . .

I think that’s the rumor that started with a Youtube comment. Guy says he chatted with drunk Ford engineers and they said March. Would be nice!

GTPE hasn't gotten the charge curve update yet.
