I've been watching dealer ads at three Ford dealers in central Orange County, CA. Attached is list of 2022MY MME VINs they've online-advertised in the last couple of weeks. Not one of them is actually on their lot or available for sale (e.g. in transit, chip hold, special order). No ads show that the dealer is adding whopping ADM; the salesman delivers that "news" when you go to the lot.(One dealer of the three still has $10K markup on GT, despite Ford opposing them.) I haven't tested whether the declared "no ADM"-dealers are sticking with their promise with news of plant shutdown or cessation of ordering.
The ONLY dealer in Orange County that was NOT charging an ADM was Theodore Robins in Costa Mesa. I bought my GT PE there on 1/20 and they only added on LoJack for $1,400. While I was waiting, I walked the lot and they started adding ADMs, plus even more "dealer addons" like interior protection, paint protection, etc. that came out to $5k. Since they previously didn't have ADM, you might still be able to negotiate off ADM, but they won't really budge on the dealer addon crap.

Tried ordering a Select RWD, comfort package on Tuesday from local dealer via Ford's web configuration tool. Both times it just kept reloading the Ford logo after I entered all my info to place "order". Came here looking for answers, doesn't look like MME is in my future after reading all this. Really like the value and options in the MME but My wife isn't willing to wait another year for a car.
Funny, I just tried to order one and it took me all the way to paying a $500 deposit with my credit card which I obviously am not going to do, so, try again!

He reported a couple posts later that he was able to get the order completed.

An ADM by any other name still smells as sweet.
Haha, very true, but they allowed me to use X-Plan on a lot car, which is also really hard to come by, in order to wash it out (since Ford reimburses for X-Plan obviously). I'll take it in today's craziness.

I hope customers who are making these last minute orders realize production could slip into next year (2023 model)as happened last year. I also hope it does not happen and they get their order this year!
I'm actually hoping it slips a bit. I ordered a premium ER AWD yesterday. The current wait time of 28+ weeks would put it at last week of August. With the shut down I'm sure it'll slip at least a few weeks. I'm hoping to take delivery between October and end of year though. By end of year for the tax credit and after October because my county has a $4,000 EV voucher program but they are out of funds until October. I'm not getting my hopes up that my order will be ready during that two month window though.. I'm fully ready to cancel it and find something on a lot somewhere, even if it means getting an Ioniq 5 instead.

That sucks, but I'm not sure how it's related.
more data! more data! Are ordering backlogs, plant shutdown, termination of ordering, chip shortage, buyer frustration related? ;)
Trying to evaluate MME "ordering-waiting vs buy off the lot" based on individual experience is like the parable of the 3 blind men touching the elephant.

The line is moving an MME toward you.... until it isn't. :(

My GOM says you should prepare for a January 2023 delivery.
A classic example off re-engineering on the fly: Mach Es were built with smaller batteries just in time for winter. ?

I got this mass email from my dealer yesterday, trying to get more people in to place orders for any car.

Unfortunately the Mach E, eTransit, and Lightning are excluded.

Thanks for the comment, I've talked with them twice on the phone and more by email. Still haven't found one I like more than my ordered one that was available. I'm still nosing around while waiting and reading the news. (Autonation Ford Tustin says "no ADM" and Click-Tuttle Ford Irvine says "you betcha, $10K ADM on GT.") I'd rather just wait than pay big ADM or drive to "Richmand" for a used one. (This opinion is not meant to criticize anyone who has, just guidance for myself.) I'm also "waiting for a Ioniq 5 and an EV6, but odds of this breaking in my favor are even lower than finding "my" MME on a dealer lot, right?)

I ordered a premium SR AWD 16 weeks ago and still don’t have a production date for it. I bought one off a lot on Monday. If my order got scheduled the first week of April and everything went perfect (I know that’s a funny thought) I’d still be at 30-32 weeks. Yours might be faster since you’re in CA, but premiums seem to be running longer.

I would assume Ioniq 5s are even harder to find and with ADM as well. We see ADM on ICE cars and a brand new model Ioniq 5? (At least the MME is on year 2). With Hyundai/Kia models seeming more rare and not sold in all states, seems like that's an EV people may get upset with as well in terms of pricing/delays.

I'm in SoCal and there are a ton of Ioniq 5's on the lots... over 1,000 within 100 miles of LA in the past few weeks. I don't know if Hyundai is just producing more than say, Ford or VW or if its because they are only selling in 20 states instead of 50 so it just seems like more are coming in. I could get an SE or an SEL at MSRP right now if I wanted and I have no doubt that by October I'd be able to find a Limited for MSRP. I'm pretty much convinced to wait on the Mach-E order at this point though. The more videos I watch the more excited I get for it. Giving up the side view cameras and HUD will suck but hand free driving and the better infotainment will be nice, amongst other things.
