That seems late, considering that new vehicles typically come out several months prior to the year and need production and shipping time...
It would be a repeat of last year in terms of when the model year cut-off occurred if it happens sometime in the Fall.

Possibly. I would think it depends how eager they are to change over to the next model year. If Ford is ready to make changes that either decrease manufacturing costs or improve specs they might want to retool sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting to see how Ford may change the ordering process with their news release that engineering will be done on the fly. Will there even be a model year or will they move to something like version number or revision number. My guess is they will stick to a model year but some aspects of the same model year vehicles may be changed and not just the software. I also think orders for 2023 will begin in October with production beginning in January..

In the US (and maybe Canada), government regulations require a model year.

You are probably right but times change. One of my brothers back East is anti EV and always posts negative article on his FB site. Not worth it to argue but I am quite sure there were negative articles about Horseless Carriages when they first came out. Rules may change at some point if it no longer makes sense to have a definitive model year.

You'd think with all the anti-vaxxers Bill Gates would have a surplus of microchips he could send to Ford.
Yes, but with the vax, I now get all the 5g's and have an unquenchable desire to buy Microsoft products! ? Oh, and magnets now stick to me too.

I have family like that too.

I just laugh inside to not have to pay for gas/maintenance and I think eventually, those anti EV folks will get it and realize they were idiots earlier. It seems it's more of a political statement vs. anything in reality.

I think they will have more "Jobs" maybe to do these mid build updates so maybe mid year/every quarter, they have a Job 2, or a Job 2.1/2.2 without this hose, these parts, etc.

I don't think Ford will do a Tesla move and it will be some middle ground.

Gas no, maintenance yes, electric doesn't remove all maintenance costs.
