Kick sensor works perfectly on mine once I discovered where to motion for it. Even my 4yo can get it to work perfectly now that she knows the secret place to "kick".

But yea, all you can do is take it or leave it. The dealer would prefer you leave it so they can do crazy ADM for someone else. EV's are selling like crazy with gas going up and up and up. You can get your deposit back and get out of the deal easily enough since they made a material change to the agreement. But you're unlikely to get any compensation unless you get rare treatment for some reason or another.
Should not require a specially choreographed kick motion . Should have a wide range of motion. Maybe thats just me and expect things to work properly.

I quite literally cannot make mine fail to function. I walk up, stick my foot underneath somewhere near the center of the car and it opens.
It‘s my opinion that many of the problems stem from PAAK or fob connectivity issues, not the sensor. I use the fob and everything about it always works - walkaway lock, welcome, puddle lights, unlocking, trunk…..

Manual shows you exactly how to kick. In and out, not touching bumper, at the center.

If that requires choreography, Debbie Allen would be a billionaire.

They're not going to swap windows.
People have driven both and remarked they could tell no difference.
The dealership is unlikely to pay to add the kick sensor. Ford hasn't said anything.
I’ve wondered if anyone has actually done a sound measurement in identical vehicles under identical road conditions?

2021 and early 2022 Premiums had acoustic laminated glass front driver and passenger windows. These were removed for later 2022 builds (along with the hands-free lift gate).

Read manual. Followed it. Maybe my foot is too small I only wear size 13 shoes.

Yes, that could be the issue. Footnote 27 says "If you have really huge feet, the tailgate sensor may mistake them for a small animal and not activate. Try barefoot, curling your toes."

FWIW- The kick sensor works about 50% of the time. I'm just using the FOB to open the back. the internal button is three deep in screens.
I use the kick sensor flawlessly daily. I have never, nor do I want to, use my fob to open the hatch, ever.

I don't really care about the windows, but am interested to see if our early 2022 build (converted from 2021), a Premium, was held for the tailgate sensor. Still hasn't shipped, and but other trims has.

If you don't know, you probably won't miss it. Even if you do know, you probably won't miss it.
Just wait until someone tries to break into your car and smashes the window, then you will notice the difference.

Someone tried to break into my Mach-E late last year and due to the laminated glass, they couldn't through the glass and into the car. Due to this, it meant that I didn't have to deal with a gaping hole where the window would have been and could comfortably drive the car around for the 2-months until my replacement glass arrived from Ford.

If the glass wasn't laminated, it would have shattered all over the place, possibly cutting the seats and causing other damage.

I didn't know that the 2022 models don't have laminated front glass, but that is a major bummer in my mind if I was to buy a 2022 model over a 2021.
