But when it is raining and you nail it around a curve and get the tail to swing. Yeee haaawww. I love my AWD.

The traction control will allow the tires to break loose a little. But if it detects much spin it will shut that tire down.
Do you have AWD? Because if you do, once the back tires break free, the front tires are what you’re driving with and they will pull the car back straight. This makes it pretty hard to actually lose control. So hopefully that reassures you.
Oh sweet. Not a great driver so worried about losing control. Maybe I can go a tad bit harder. I do have AWD. Thanks Murse!

Yep. I used this all the time when I had my 4X and stock tires. So much fun and so intelligently designed. A little thrill with very little danger unless you’re being truly stupid.
mince I added wider tires, it wasn’t so easy to do. Now with my GT-PE… it’s back to being too easy. But this one scares me a little, so much power. And with great power comes great responsibility. ?

Good choice on the tires. I didn't have good luck with the old DWS06 but the plus models are a major improvement. They have outstanding grip for the treadwear and all-season capabilities. Compared to the stock GT tires, they are much improved. I also found 37 psi to be the sweet spot on our cars.
How does the ride quality compare?

From my perspective much better. I never liked the soft mushy sidewalls of the original DWS. I found the tire to be awful, despite a smooth and quiet ride. Flat spotting was awful.

DWS06 were much improved in the absolutely horrible mushy feeling but were still not great tires. Their traction in dry, wet and snow was good but the weird feeling in turns where you can actually feel the tire rolling over on itself made for a whole lot of understeer. They also had significant problems with flatspotting still. the first 5 miles of any drive was thump thump thump...though not as bad as the DWS. They were usually gone by the time I hit the highway.

The DWS06+ are much sharper in handling response. Very responsive, very tight feeling, no additional understeer. They are a hair louder, and have a hair more harshness to the ride but absolutely worthy trade offs for all the improvements made. No flat spotting noticed so far. Maybe if I was being REALLY picky I could detect a HAIR after sitting at least a full day...but that's being really picky.

Congrats on getting rain-safe tires on your car again Andy. ??

I have been having a hankering to work my torque wrenches out more. Unfortunately I can’t afford to build an engine at the moment. ??ā€ā™‚?

Today I dived into the pits and had installed Continental Extreme Contact DSW06 Plus in 255/45-R20 on my stock GTPE rims. These have a higher load rating (105 vs 103) and much higher tread wear rating (560 vs 280) than the original Pirelli P-Zero Elect tires. These are all-seasons, which isn't probably a bad thing with fall and winter nighttime temps and occasional rain in the Bay Area.

I also installed Corvette jack pads (modified ever so slightly to fit in the holes) for the front, and Tesla jack pads for the rear. These worked really well in ensuring the Americas Tire installers placed their jacks in the right place and didn't touch the battery rails.

It's nice to have tires with tread and grip again!

Would Tesla jack pads not work for all 4 locations? I'd love to have these on hand should they needed in the future but wondering if I can just order a Tesla set from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Tesla-Model-Lifting-Jack-pad/dp/B07QR19NM9).

Ford for some reason made the holes at the front lift location smaller than the holes at the rear lift location. The Tesla pads are a little tight in the rear but are over 0.100ā€ bigger than the front holes. I have modified Corvette pads for all 4 locations. ?ā€ā™‚??

Rain safe tires? Summer tires are actually better for rain than all seasons o_O

Have you noticed an improvement in ride quality/road noise yet going from the crappy Pirelli P Zeros to all seasons? Its the only thing I'm really missing from my Premium. The road noise is insane with these crappy stock summer tires!

Just a clarifying question: are they more harsh compared to the stock GT tires, or compared to the old DWS tires? I am not ready for new tires yet, but I would like a more comfortable tire, not a more harsh tire.

Unless the summers are bald, which is why Andy needed to replace his tires. ??

If you haven’t replaced yet, I would wait on it. Safe for dry roads is different than safe for wet roads, and going into the dry season in California, those tires don’t look done to me.

Yikes... a GTPE on all seasons. I don't understand why you'd buy an $70k performance SUV then put all seasons on it instead of buying a proper set of performance tires. Do you not plan to drive in a spirited manner anymore? I had a set of those Conti's on my 400HP Subaru and great handling went right out the window. I yanked those Contis right back off. I hope that you have better luck than I did.
I agree to a point. I personally run summers exclusively on my car. I’m a big believer in summer tires if a car is so equipped, however, newer top-tier UHP AS options from Michelin, Goodyear, and Continental have enough grip to compete with summers from a tire Gen ago. Sometimes you just need a bit of winter capability and for some reason can’t/won’t ante up for a dedicated winter setup, that’s a personal choice.

That said, I don’t care what any user says about DWS06 vs DWS06+ vs. whatever, none of the best AS tires can match steering feel combined with lateral/longitudinal grip of the current best summers out there. Ain’t happening. And steering feel comes into play even playing around at 4-5 tenths, not just pushing things to the limit.
