Except that the TSB expressly states that you don’t have to get them from ford.
I think it just states "or equivalent". That means if they already have it or chose to order it from a supplier of their choice.
You can't expect a business to take gear from a random customer and then use it to fix premium cars like the Mach-E and the F-150. That opens a big liability problem.

The TSB literally shows a picture of them using an Amazon Basics Ethernet adapter.

Used my equipment from Amazon (parts of which are LISTED in the TSB) without any question whatsoever. Heck it even shows the Amazon USB to Ethernet connector. There is no liability issue here.

anyway, my dealer scheduled me for the 12th to apply that TSB (apparently my VIN now shows up as applicable, it wasn't last week).
They also said that a new TSB was just out (today) and they will apply it as well - anyone has details on it?

Did they tell you the new TSB was related to 22-2117? I'd be curious about that too. I have to bring mine back for a tire rotation now that I have the key available for the locking lug nuts so they could do a new TSB then.

There is an updated TSB today for an issue if your fordpass won't activate at all to replace the GWM. And yesterday they expanded the 21P22 charging curve updates to cover cars built through the end of Sept.

That's all there is new that I can see.

I asked if it was around Blue Cruise, he said "not sure, it seems generic" and he didn't give me more info.

I think it is a VERY convenient excuse, in part because it sounds reasonable. But these parts they need are standard parts in the IT world. (As in, they literally adhere to a standard, the same standard that Ford has to adhere to.)

WTF? (not you, the dealer.) I think the dealer is messing with you. Unless I'm mistaken, aTSB does not require a VIN. If you have the symptoms, you get the TSB.

I don't think they do tbh. They have been good to me since the beginning, done a flawless job on the recall, replaced my axle (got parts in less than a week where others have waited months), applied the sw calibration...

Now I frankly don't really care about what they think they need or not, if it makes them feel better to have some kind of VIN list so they get paid by Ford or not it's their internal processes.

The service rep told me last week that they would still try to apply it even though it wasn't showing up while loading my VIN because I have the symptoms - but today he's more confident about it fixing it because it shows up in their system that's all.

This doesn't show up based on VIN. When you pull up a car in Ford's system, you can see a list of TSB/SSM/GSB that apply. This TSB shows up in that list for any 2021 Mach E, regardless of VIN.

Recalls or Field Service Actions show up in highlighted yellow on the cars main page for a dealer to get their attention, but none of the TSB's do that.

I think the main thing that people can tell a dealer if they are not wanting to do this fix, is that if the fix does not apply to the car, FDRS will not complete it. It checks for specific conditions before it will proceed. So if the car doesn't need it, it will tell them "This Vehicle Does Not Qualify"

Does it show up in FDRS when 22-2117 is attempted?

Yes. It shows in the history just like any other process FDRS does.

So dropped my car off on Tuesday to have the TSB done, they said it would be no problem and done that day. Then was told it timed out and can’t pick it up and now I haven’t heard anything and no one answers the phone. No rental provided, nothing. I am absolutely done with Ford. My first and last.

All of these updates that only a dealer can perform requires that the car be within warranty coverage or ESP. So if this were to happen to a car that's out of warranty, you're SOL? Fortunately for me, my car was able to get the stuck 1.7.1 unstuck after about 2 months OTA. What happens if Ford sends another update that gets stuck (or worse) when my car is out of warranty? Can @Ford Motor Company chime in?
Hello! Feel free to send us a DM if you have any further concerns or are currently experiencing a concern with your Mach-E. Thanks!
