Why won't Kelly blue book give trade in values or private party values for mach e?

Have tried multiple times to see the value of my one year old mach e. It continually says some data points are missing and unable to provide a value.

Yes they use an Algorithm that uses the data if recent sales, among other things. If a certain amount of data isn't there you get nothing.

Just look at what you paid, and add a couple thousand. That is the used price.

Isn’t KBB pretty obsolete now that you can get an actual offer from Carvana, Vroom, Driveway…not just an imaginary price but a real price they’ll give you to come get the car from you?

I use Driveway and Carvana as a KBB replacement. They offered me $53k for my Select AWD w/ Comfort+Tech package and 10k miles so I assume they'd sell it in the $55-57k range

I’ve had really good estimates through Edmunds.com, which gives you a CarMax offer too

The best resale value is to sell to a private party. The end consumer. Selling to a Ford dealer, Carvana, etc. will end up with you leaving money on the table. They need to pay less so that they can sell it to the end consumer.

Here's a good example. Last year when I purchased my Mach E the dealer offered me $1,500 to trade in my 2009 Ford Edge with 155,000 miles on it. Carmax offered $2,100. I sold it via a Facebook Marketplace ad 3 days later for $5,500.

I've owned a lot of cars in my life and have always sold the end consumer, always for more money than selling it wholesale to a dealer or reseller. Part of that also is that I keep cars in pristine condition. The paint job and interior of that 12 year old Edge looked as good as it did when I bought it new. However, if you trash your car then trade in or Carvana may be the only way to go.

It's worse than obsolete - it's owned by Cox Automotive. They work for the auto industry and have no incentive to give you a realistic value on your vehicle.

NADA is a decent tool for ball parking value. Our 4X is listed as $59.5-$62K with 7k miles. Lo and behold, that’s right in line with the $61-62k Driveway and Shift offered. Vroom was around $58k and Carvana was sandbagging at $55K.
