I've only had my GTPE for 2 weeks now, and went to charge it for the 2nd time today. I decided to charge to 100% based on the HVBJB issues (I turned off the 90% limit). I went to the store for some groceries, used a couple of percent, and when I returned home, the IPC told me due to high temperatures I should plug in, so I did.

Question is - are other's getting this message and plugging in? I don't know if I should trust the car to do the right thing, or if its these messages that aren't appropriate and causing the HVBJB issues. For now, I'm doing what it told me to...any thoughts/info?

Those of us in the desert southwest are used to that message. We plug in when able. Sounds unusual for you to see that message for your region. Were you driving aggressively by any chance?

Thanks. I've only seen the cold version. We get into the hundreds here and I've yet to see the hot version.

I would presume it's to prevent battery drain when the system attempts to keep the battery under 95 degrees. Otherwise you'll use battery power to cool it and come back to the car with less range. Makes sense.

Unfortunately the MME won't cool the HVB unless parked on plug and within the charge schedule.

On dcfc outside of a schedule it will cool as well. But it's very well likely that it won't unless plugged in.

This is what I'm saying. And here we have someone in New York getting it. Conspiracy!

Easy answer. Do what the car says IF you can. In this case, you can.

As to going to 100% because of HVBJB issues, I wouldn't do that, but do whatever floats your boat.

So then you could follow the advise of the IPC, but if you're outside your charge schedule, it won't even manage the thermals of the battery?!? I guess that's good, but I wouldn't think the power draw would be that exorbitant.

Charging schedule only applies to L1 and L2.
DCFC will cool the battery while charging for sure.
