Is the Mach-E really 7 years behind Tesla?

In either case they've hit the ground running and the MME will be excellent competition.
THIS!! I love that Ford is joining in! I hope that the Mach-e is better than the Y, if it is I'll sell my Y and buy an E. If it isn't right for my needs in the end, at least it will force Tesla to improve. Ford buyers win. Tesla buyers win. And most importantly, planet Earth wins.

I am so looking forward to hitting the drag strip side by side with a Mach-e GT. I mean seriously, people can talk all they want but where the rubber hits the road is where the truth is found. Are there any folks here from the Portland area with a GT ordered? It would be great to not only hit the track but to do some real world side by side efficiency testing. :D

If you could afford a Tesla, what are you doing driving a Focus. Sounds like fiction to me.
People have owned multiple cars at different points in their lives... I didn't say I owned the Focus *today*.

The amusing thing is that the model Y got a $3000 price drop AFTER all the first order were filled. So those that preordered/bought the car right away got screwed out of $3000 if they had just waited a month. That's a nice slap in the face to those schmoes who begged Musk to sell them a Y.

Ford is giving the price decrease to EVERYONE including the early adopters instead of screwing them, and yet somehow that is a mark against Ford.

SMH
Are people complaining about a price cut? I haven't really heard anyone seriously say the MSRP reduction was a bad thing for buyers.

Ford vehicles have gotten non-retroactive price cuts in the past. 2012 -> 2013 Focus about $2k worth of optional content on SE became standard on all Focuses, effectively devaluing everyone who bought a 2012 (*raises hand*). Suddenly the alloy wheels, SYNC, cruise, etc. that I paid multiple optional packages for were standard at the same base price. That's a non-retroactive price cut.

Stay tuned!
I mean I hope to be proven wrong, but all I see is LG's R&D in the battery, BorgWarner's R&D in the motors, and presumably some other supplier's R&D in the power electronics.

So I see an electric Ford where Ford outsourced all the electric bits.

That's not a *bad* thing, but it makes it hard to argue they're ahead of someone when they aren't using their own research in their own car.

Um, no. No paint color is a $16,000 upcharge. That color is simply not available on the lower trims. The $16,000 pays for the ER battery, and AWD, and the glass roof, and all the other Premium/FE features.
Then it's an upcharge.

16,000 lmao. An first edition is 58,300. minus 1,000 to 3,000 in incentives, minus x plan. so 57,000 for grabber blue first edition. minus the 7,500 tax credit 49,500. Still, less then a Tesla y and that person can have grabber blue. But hey if 1% of people who want that color at least they have an option. Does tesla even offer grabber blue........................................hmm didn't think so.

You act like the mache is so far behind in tech and its not. No way because of a sentry mode or dashcam. You can buy way better aftermarket dash cams anyways. But you can't buy the mache interface on a Telsa. Nore, can you have a display in front of the driver? Having to grab the door handle really. Like hello, it's 2020 why not just push a button and the door opens for you.

The apps and third party ability in the mache are far better then what tesla has.
I can buy an aftermarket dashcam that records four different angles (front, back, and both sides), in the car without any ugly power cables across the interior? And that can detect motion coordinated with the vehicle alarm? Please, link me to that solution.

I don't want a display in front of the driver. Never saw the need. Been without one for two years and not once have I thought "you know what I need? a redundant screen."

I don't want third party apps using my phone's data. I want the car to have good enough tech built in that third-party apps aren't needed, and to use the car's data, not mine.

I love the Mach-E's door handles. I don't get why you think I'm knocking the Mach-E when I signed up for a First Edition that cost $10k more than my Tesla did.

Exactly.

All I want is for Ford to push Tesla to be better, and Ford to *recognize* that Tesla is pushing them to be better.

The Mach-E is a great car, none of us would have ordered it and spend our spare time discussing it if it wasn't.

I just want it to be even greater by matching features Tesla has had for years.

Yes and Tesla's batteries are Pannasonic, what is your point?

I mean, it's obvious so I'm not going to indulge your trolling, if you can't see their vertical integration and in-house battery development I can't help you.

You point to Tesla's vertical integration as if it were a good thing. Great thinking for the 1930s. Most manufacturing companies discovered by the 1970s that over time, excess vertical integration proves to be a strategic disadvantage.
