As the title goes, driver confused the brake and accelerator in the parking lot and car ended up bouncing in two different curbs. Hoping that the battery isn’t damaged. Waiting for the tow truck. 🤞🏼 1600 miles and 4 weeks in. :(
Both Passengers were safe.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Brake and Accelerator Confusion 5078B4B7-CA09-4F5E-A6E9-7DAFC2930902

update: It was not a 1PD issue. From what I was told, driver was making a right turn to do a perpendicular park and regen didn’t slow enough. So to avoid hitting the curb he meant to slam the brake, but ended up slamming the accelerator. And with the instant torque, it jumped into the air. The same error on a gas car would probably not have caused this much damage.

update 2: Adjustor paid a visit to the body shop. He thinks it’s repairable. Body shop is gonna rip it open for further inspection and make a call.

Ouch, that is painful to look at. Hope everyone turned out alright.
Thankfully everyone is all right.

Do we need a flat bed or can a regular one lift the front and get it done?

This has happened to a great many people. I don’t think I’ll be using 1PD if my Mach E ever gets delivered for this reason. High regen sure, but not 1PD.

So sorry to see that. I am happy to “hear” that driver and passenger are OK. 🙁🐩

I don't see how this can be blamed on 1pd. If anything 1pd makes this less likely yo occur. With 1PD you are significantly less likely to try and press the brake pedal, and therefore less likely to accidently press the accelerator instead of the brake.
Personally, I can't think of a time I've needed the brake pedal in a parking lot. The only times I've needed it were decelerating from highway speeds.

I think because people are having to re-learn stuff that is second nature with 1PD, it makes it more likely a moment of split second confusion is occurring.

Not sure I can agree. When we switched away from manual to automatic did we blame automatics for "confusion"? I agree with @jwhamlin244 that the actual pedals are the same as any other automatic transmission. 1PD just slows you more.

In this case the accelerator HAD to be depressed, there's no car on earth where pushing an accelerator = braking. Even with 1PD, pushing it never = braking.

When I was a paramedic we would see this happen all the time with elderly people. It's just a sign that it's time to stop driving in many of those cases, but not all. I think there's a higher likelihood of someone thinking they are in reverse because of the stupid gear shift twisty thing and actually being in drive.

Internet hyperbole. o_O

"a great many people" is defined as how many?

I asked if the person was using 1PD because to me it seems that if you start to rely on 1 pedal 99% of the time, in an emergency you may react improperly and hit that pedal. No scientific evidence, just my belief.
