Yeah it's not hard for them to make a USB drive update for them to take when they pick the car up...By the time they got home it would be updated and it would report to the mothership on the next reboot. Easy peasy mac and cheesy. I'd bring a 32GB USB stick to pick the car up and have them put the files on it and off you go. Stick it in the USB port, when the stick is recognized select the "Close" button and off you go. All updated by the time you get home.

Mike
Yeah, my guess is that they didn’t see APIM on the list since they did the two sync resets without installing. Likely spent the next couple of hours trying to figure out why BC wasn’t working.

Thank you for checking for me! Just so I understand correctly and so they don't lie to me again, once that APIM USB update is done then my car will 100% up to date with nothing else available under FRDS?
Correct

@oldertwin let us know if this works out.

Do you need to call them right now and tell them that there's on more APIM update to do? Or is it too late for that?

Disregard...it's done. You're at the same APIM version I am and you have no updates showing as due.

Break out the champers it's a blessed event!! YAAAYYY

Got to be honest, this is the first time I've seen an update for a VDM.

Hey thanks! Sorry, I’m a neophyte about this… that means all those updates have been properly downloaded and installed? How would I know if there were available updates that aren’t installed?

Ummm nope. Actually those are all the ones that haven't been downloaded and installed.

That's like most of a day's worth of programming assuming they started first thing in the morning.

They will likely not want to do all of that for free....

Those are the available updates which eventually should be pushed OTA. As of right now the list has OBCC which is an updated DC fast charge curve to improve charging over 80%. Nothing else on the list adds anything but could resolve issues you may be having.

I think I would have gone with the bold and underlined, as well as the italics, on the word "eventually". But it's a style choice, and I respect the restraint you showed there...not to mention your optimism.

I did change "in theory" to eventually. I should have stuck with my first instinct. More likely 21P22 will get extended before this happens.

I have it set to update every Sunday night. You guys are telling me there’s more I need to do to get updates AND I have to pay for that to be done to the car I paid $70k for? This, and I just read all zillion posts on the 5 second ā€˜power boost’ thread, I’m having charging issues, the CarPlay connectivity is piss poor, etc. I’m really trying to avoid disillusionment here, but wow.

There are some pinned threads all about this. The focus right now is to get Job 1 cars features that were promised that we already have and also to get software out for the new recall. There is no missing promised feature in Job 2’s and updates will come OTA when they have the resources to do so.

Regarding issues you are having, there are many issues which have associated TSB’s so the dealership will do updates for free to resolve the issues. There is also CSP 21P22 which only applies to Job 1’s but was extended to early Job 2’s and this is a free dealership update if you are in the range.

If you detail your specific issues then someone should be able to point you to a TSB if one exists. I can tell you that CarPlay would likely need a sync update which I hope will go out in the next couple of months.

I don't know if you have the ability with your current Sync version to schedule multiple days of the week for updates. I'm hoping you do as that is something that would help when OTA updates are available for your car. If you do have that option I would recommend you set your update schedule for when the car is likely to be on the road in an urban environment with good cell phone coverage. Like a daily commute time for example. The car's TCU modem seems to work best in areas with good AT&T coverage (more than two bars as an example?) and also while you're driving it is likely that the state-of-charge (SOC) of your 12v battery would be above the 80% minimum for the logic to allow an update to "kick off". Numerous posts on these forums would indicate that cars sitting in garages overnight or for several days, even on the charger and on home wifi, don't seem to be getting OTAs as fast as those that are "out and about".
