Did you cut the whole with the trim pieces intact?
No I had taken it off. I actually went for a few weeks with it off while I was testing some scenarios for updating and waited until I cut the holes to put it back on.

nice job.
yes, if you use a standard 2" hole saw with a pilot that sticks out less than an inch and drill slowly (no need to push or go fast cutting plastic) there is no real need to remove the beauty cover. you can drill with cover 'in situ' , and the procedure takes 5 minutes instead of 30 with pinched fingers and lost/broken clips.

His job is excellent, but I will probably take the easier approach without removjng the cover. I will use the 2 1/2 inch hole saw. Just concerned about debris falling into cavity of car. Might use vacuum as I cut to collect debris.

thanks

the debris, which is ABS plastic, is a non issue compared to 'normal' dust, dirt, frunk drainage, and whatever blows in from the wheel well gaps.

easy peasy

should def come from factory with these holes.... and probably a third over the HV disconnect for emergency responders to 'pull the plug' before jaws of life cutting into the body.... or even touching chassis after a bad front end wreck.

Has anyone who pulled their frunk done a template for a hole saw cutout above the HV Disconnect or is there too much risk in doing that?

the top of the hv relay disconnect is a little too close to the bottom of the cover to cut 'in place'. I would suggest removing the cover to cut that third hole.

Alternatively, I may add a hinge and cut a section of the cover that could be flipped up to expose all three area. This takes a little more doing than the hole saw, but will provide easier access.

I drilled mine a few month ago and finally edited the video.

Honestly I was not aware of this thread. I could have learned a bit. If you are still interested in the video check it out.
