Given it didn't improve, I wonder if the software got put in some kind of loop and maxed out the power reduction. A quick power cycle of the car may have cleared it up.

Thanks for sharing these and your earlier video post.

So is there a way to fix this software wise? Just a cooling issue with the battery or is the management of it to be extra safe? I'm all for extra safety personally, but they should have resolved this probably before launch. It'd be nice if there was a roadmap to fix this for GT versions of the car.

I suppose with me having no plans to be a speed demon and never having any plans neither to really do much sporty driving myself, this issue will probably never affect me, but sorta annoying even though it seems EVs have to do this if you were to track one of these cars.

I think if I were to ever do launches (like never) or track an EV, I'd probably lean towards a future Porsche instead or even a Tesla (gasp).
People keep speculating that it’s a “cooling issue.” It isn’t so simple.

The gray bars of death seem to show up at different times.

Exterior temps very low. (Obviously not a cooling issue).

High cruise speed. (Potentially a cooling issue).

5 seconds of full throttle from a stop (a programmed limit, too short of a time to be a cooling issue, does this no matter the temperature).

The only one I really care about them “fixing” is the artificial 5 second limit.

Next to a bottle of V8?

Premium and Select model owners probably should avoid commenting on GT 5 second struggle, we don't really understand the pain.

They could also make the seating surfaces out of cactus but I'm not going to thank my lucky stars that they didn't.
Cactus seats? Count yourself lucky. Oh how we used to dream of having cactus seats.

I’ve seen half the power meter blocked off after leaving the car outside in below freezing weather for a couple days and drove off without preconditioning. The only other times were at super low SoC, <20%, and for about 10 minutes after fast charging.

Just sell your MME PE and leave this forum already. You're obviously very unhappy. Good luck.
I'm sorry that it upsets you so much to read honest criticism of the Mach-E.

I believe a bit of black electrical tape over the offending display would solve this problem.
That always worked for “Check Engine” lights! ?

I level 2 charged overnight from 44-90%. Car was charged indoors at 75*. I had half power for my entire drive of mixed city and highway for over an hour.

That’s not normal.

Have you had the recall work done?

@JRuggiero Sometimes I get the bars for no reason at all. I think it’s a glitch in the startup of the computer. If I pull over and shut the car down for a minute when I restart they’re gone.

I would be interested to know if this is related to the contactor issues or just general poor cooling in the system. I think it's the contactors based on what I have heard during an outofspec podcast where Kyle spoke to a Ford engineer.

The best thing that Ford could do is to replace the contactor with a beefier part that would support the far heavier loads than the GTPE would use.

If the HVBJB contactor issue is the reason for the 5-second limit and grey bars, then this new part would remove those limitations and make the GT and GTPE the beasts that they truly could be while satisfying the entire GT/GTPE customer base and reinforcing brand loyalty.
