SSM 50862 - Blank/Inoperative Information And Entertainment Screen

30 seconds is normal if it’s a cold boot, more than a few minutes, I haven’t seen that. Sometimes it’s up and running before I get my seatbelt on.

Maybe too early to tell, but after all the updates the dealer did today, it seems to load significantly faster. Like 5-10 seconds and fully loaded. We will see if that lasts.

There was some updates that made it speedier

Made an appointment for 8/5 for this exact issue just 2 days before the bulletin

. See attached video. Hopefully the error code is logged and it’s a quick replace

I took mine in for this at the end of June, but they couldn’t get any replacement screens in.

It’s “on order” and I’ve been promised a call as soon as it comes in. I might call for an update soon.

please post if you’re successful in getting a new screen, and I will when I am.

(btw, they kept my car for 2 weeks while the screen was coming “any day now”. I finally got a hold of the service manager who admitted the part arrival was unknown. I wonder if leaving it there and attempting to escalate would have helped them find parts, but I picked it up and I’ll continue to do the reset 3+ out of 4 times I get in the car for now… and getting a successful reset is definitely taking longer)

Well at least I can finally take my car in to get this fixed.

its a bad chip.....

mine was sensitive to heat if I parked or was driving south.... it would go black, and then recover after cooling. I brought to Dealer, they verified code, authorized replacement and called me back in about a week later to replace it.

I did not leave car at dealer, I just didn't park facing south until new one arrived.

SSM 50994 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E/2022 Expedition/F-150 Lightning - Blank/Inoperative Information And Entertainment Screen - DTC B108E:01

Some 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E, 2022 Expedition/F-150 Lightning vehicles equipped with the 15.5 inch center display screen may experience a blank or inoperative screen with an accessory protocol interface module (APIM) diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B108E:01 present. A touch-beep may be heard when pressing the center display screen in screen region where a soft button is expected to be displayed even though nothing is displayed on the center display screen. This concern may be intermittent and resetting the SYNC module (APIM) may temporarily restore screen function. To correct this condition, follow the Workshop Manual Section 415-00 to replace the 15.5 inch center display screen. For claiming, use base part 10D885 and the applicable labor operations of Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Had the blank screen happen to me for the first time today on my 2022.
- Screen blank when turned on the car
- iPhone wouldn’t connect to car, so no navigation through car.
- When putting the car in reverse, the backup Cameras did work and screen came on for that function, but went blank as soon as I put it back into Drive.
-Couldn’t adjust A/C or fans because screen was blank
- Monitor didn’t feel hot to touch in back of screen
- Software update two days ago to 3.2.1
Everything worked again about an hour later when we got home and pulled into garage. Turned off car, came back a few minutes later and it worked again.
Never had this issue before. Guess I will need to watch if it happens again.

Following up for myself - I got a new screen installed today. ~6 weeks for it to get to the dealer. With the expanded SSM noted above including 2022 models - I wonder if Ford has done anything to make new screens more robust, or if we're just hoping to not lose the 'part variability' game.

My large screen just went blank today, backup camera is the only thing that works. Fortunately, the small screen still works and the car still operates. I will be taking it in to the dealer tomorrow.

apparently there are some screens with 'bad chips' inside that are heat sensitive and crap out at too low a temperature. can be a problem if you park in the sun, or drive south. I had mine replaced in the first month and it's been fine since.

I did however recently add a console 'organizer' that screens the back of the screen from direct sun, and it seems to have reduced the temperature of the display further... which I hope will help it last longer.

If you have EVER had the screen go black, get it replaced. Resets are not a permanent fix.

can't be 'fixed' with software.......

kinda like the HVBJB contactor problem. the software 'recall' is not a fix for the bad hardware, it is just better notification that it is failing

This is exactly what just happened to me (30 minutes ago leaving work). Was fine this morning. So weird.

My screen just went blank, called Ford and they want it in for "diagnostics" next Monday, October 31st. Wish me luck!

Mine went blank 30 minutes ago (wife is in the car). When she gets back, I'll reboot the center screen. If that doesn't work, it'll go to the dealer
