Ya I don't get that dealership response. Also I don't think hot Temps is a cause for mine. It's been fritzzing for months when we still had cold days.

Thank you for the information. It also happened in the morning backing out from enclosed garage so I also believe that heat is not the problem. Well I bought the car less than three miles down the road of Texas home. Heat cannot be used as an excuse. I just got an Edge with big screen and the screen came on without any problem after being outside at 110F. My dealer was nice to put my car in front of the queue and worked on it the next working day. The dealer could only relay words from Ford engineers. I just talked to the case manager at Ford and he said he would call me back tomorrow.

I told him if Ford does not want to fix my MME while other MMEs with the same issue have been fixed, Ford can take the car back.

My screen is to be replaced tomorrow. I have my doubts those is truly the issue. I think now more then anything these OTA updates are causing bugs and issues, they may get fixed but never noted or told. In any case I'll take a new screen and hope they do a good job.

Well this is ridiculous, my center screen now consistently is blank and locked up every morning or after sitting for a day at work. Reset has to be done 2-3 times and while all this nonsense goes on the HVAC controls are locked. Also the walk away locks isn't working either.

Have a June 15 appointment, earliest possible, and am less then confirmed Woody Anderson in Huntsville will be able to do anything.

Seems all the OTA updates have been happening. Anyone else have a consistent issues like these?
This has happened quite a bit lately. Get in randomly and screen will not turn on with car. I can still drive and front little screen works but can't access ac and etc because the screen doesn't turn on.
Mine doesn't work with the backup camera though either.

I noticed it's happened more with the car sitting out in the heat. Very frustrating. My first real issue with my car in 1 year has been this problem

Shutting car off and on did not work this time.

This happen to me when the car parked outside and hot. It is not just HVAC that will not work. It is also a back up camera and that is a safety issue. The screen eventually comes back after sitting in a car for several minutes. @JRT you are in a good hand since you got Ford attention. I have been tagging Ford for a while now about this issue without a luck. This seems to be a common issue based on several posts here. Since this is a safety issue, I am considering report the issue to NHTSA.
This has been my experience. No back up camera, nothing. Heat has been the common denominator for me.

I just drove home 12 minutes without the screen in 95 degree heat so it doesn't appear to be rebooting or coming on after a period of time for me.

@WSoxFan22 Good Luck! It only happens to my MME when temperature is higher than 75-80F sun or no sun (in garage). Per dealer, Ford engineers said there was no fix and told the customer to tint front windows and use sunshade. I have done something better but frozen screen still happens. Case manager from Ford has been a good help. We will see how this will turn out.

Ask them to replace your APIM. That seems to have fixed the issue for me.

After I saw your post, I went to check mine. The screen froze twice and MME was parked in a garage at 91F. I was able to record a video.

I've had the black screen problem a few times now.

Once while driving, the center screen froze (no updates to map, click, etc), then after a minute or two, it went blank, then another minute or so and it came back. This felt to me like a software crash followed by a watchdog timer restart. I don't remember if it was hot or not.

2-3 times, including this morning, the screen remained black when I started the car. Shifting into reverse, it was still blank, but then the video came in as I was backing out my long driveway. A few seconds after the reverse camera came on, all the other icons and doodads around the screen came on. By the time I reached the end of my driveway, perhaps 1-2 minutes after starting the car, everything was working fine. At least one time, the car was hot, and I did initially think it was an over-temperature issue (based on my knowledge of computers and electronics, but having not seen this thread). This morning, however, it had been cool overnight and was still under 70 degF at 4:30am when it happened. This tells me it is not a temperature related issue.

10 to 1 odds you need the APIM replaced.

Maybe. I had mine replaced at the beginning of the year due to panic restarts on hot days. Since a March dealer visit where they updated some module firmwares, I now experience the same symptoms as @AndrewY and others in this thread, regardless of weather or sunlight or shade, usually right after starting the vehicle.

My guess is that it's a software bug that was introduced to our vehicles this year.

It took 2 replacements before I got a good APIM. My dealer says they are currently having all kinds of APIM issues in all Ford models. YMMV!
