I just got a message that my car is ready - it was a failure of the 12 V. Unfortunately I might not be able to pick it up until tomorrow.
Did they provide the error codes or anything like that? I'm hoping my issue is also just a bad 12v battery. Service will be putting in the new battery sometime today. Lol not sure if I should hope for HVJB issue so the part can be replaced now vs me getting stranded on the road in the future.

@Caramel actually had a stuck contactor code. In your case they haven't even read codes yet because of the discharged battery. If they replace the LVB today we should be able to see any codes.

They’re saying they’re going to “do more inspecting.”
I mean, not that I know how to fix everything on a car, but wouldn't it kinda make sense if you have a DTC code, to y'know, RTFM which says replace the junction box?

I'm sure they just don't want to admit that it wasn't fixed. Minutes after @Caramel posted that the car was ready with just a LVB change, someone with Ford was on the phone with the service manager telling them that the stuck contactor code required HVBJB inspection/replacement.

There were a ton of DTC's most of which suggested LVB issue but they missed the DTC which identified the HVBJB as the root cause.

Apparently the car threw loads of codes and they went for the most obvious (and also easiest and cheapest). I'm super glad the secret mach e forum mafia had my back!

We are still watching over your case. There's been discussion about your car this morning. We think that the car was soooo dead that they have to replace the LVB just to get it to come back to life. Then we will probably be able to see the DTCs and determine if it was HVBJB failure, which I'm going to guess it is (but that's just a guess at this point).

My dealership is now finally admitting to me that it was a HVBJB issue. They've ordered a replacement but saying Ford is out of stock? I remember reading on here a while back that dealerships might say that but it wasn't necessarily true.

You assume the software update was designed to FIX the issue. It wasn't. It was designed to allow you to get the car safely off the road (and hopefully to a service center) in the event of that specific failure.

Anyone going into this with open eyes knows that it's a mitigation, and the first step to replace a part that can fail. The question is whether the replacement part is going to end up having issues and if there is a broader problem.

Someone at Ford customer service closed my case because Kestrel's vin is registered in my husband's name. Despite me explaining when I called in that we have different last names and the car is in his name, they created the case file in my name. At some point someone noticed (or the system flagged) that the VIN name and case name didn't match, the case got closed.

It's 2022. Sometimes women don't change their name when they get married and we should be all be able to understand that and deal with it?

I'm sorry. I'm venting. I was very nice and polite to the person I just spoke with because it wasn't her fault and she was literally just the messenger, but I'm annoyed.

Going to have a cup of tea and a biscuit (cookie) and I'll be calm again, I promise.

Wow, that's horrible :(

My wife (also kept her maiden name) and I run into the same issues with Ford and Ford dealers. We are both on the vehicle purchase, VIN and Registration but her name is listed first, so the Ford system that the dealers use appears to had set everything in her name and ignored mine. I had to work with my local dealership to have the contact information updated to me since I am the one that takes the car for service and would be dealing with the dealer.

Hopefully @Ford Motor Company can help to re-open a case for you in the correct name.

The person I just spoke with was able to, thank you though!

Before you go off on someone, make sure you are following the thread and are clear on the context. My comment was related to a discussion where the dealer said that OP's car was fixed after changing the LVB. They had missed the DTC about the stuck contactor.

I wasn’t going off on you, and I’m sorry if it came off like that. Thanks for correcting me.

So. We know Ford's strategy on this matter. Although I'm not a fan of it, and I think that in the end, they need to eat the cost of replacing everyone's HVJB proactively, I'm not sure how that's something we can force (class action isn't going to do it). Sorry you joined the club @Caramel . It's best I think to just get it out of the way.

Really interested to see if anyone experiences HVJB failure post new B or C varient replacement. Not wishing that on anyone, but if that happens once, we will know that the Mach-E is a garbage product.

MachE is not the only EV around, ford probably uses a similar part in the F150 as well, so I doubt that they cannot find or create a part which will not weld shut or die
