Hopefully your tow truck driver didn't go to school here:

Oh wow! Someone found a picture of Crotonville! (Bonus points to anyone who recognizes the reference!)

Keep trying....
Hey, serious question: do we have any insight into failure rates on this part? Preferably by vehicle type or drivetrain type or something? I’m trying to find some kind of pattern here (obviously as a very bad, uninformed armchair quarterback)

Basically more power draw seems to correlate to a higher likelihood. Therefore RWD would be at the bottom of the spectrum and GTs would be at the top. There's no one who is exempt except for people who have a build date after May 25

Sigh… to be honest, that’s kind of what I figured intuitively. I was hoping we had enough information to develop some quantitative results.

I'm guessing that you are getting more than just a B version of the contactor and that Ford might be flying out some skilled people and a box of scooby snacks.
??

I'm just another forum member and I don't expect anything special, but some Scooby snacks would be nice.

I ended up getting COVID from my vacation/return trip as well and it's got me pretty f*cked up, so I'm in no hurry to get the car.
Talk about adding insult to injury (or maybe the other way around). Sorry to hear! Hope you and your MME recover quickly.

I kinda feel bad now for the local dealer. They were probably all pumped to get to do this fix but now can’t. It’s like when the local cops get an interesting case to work on and the feds swoop in and take over.

Starting to believe the whole "curse" thing ? Get well soon.
On the bright side, you could always order another, and sell your current one when the new one comes in next year for at least MSRP.

Dog treats are not frowned upon in these parts. Neither are doughnuts. ??

I've read the first page (very entertaining) and the last page - sorry about Covid - so sorry if this has been covered. I had a 2021 First Edition for 14 months and 22,500 miles. Not a single issue. I picked up my 2022 GTPE about a month ago and it is at the Ford Dealership now having the HVBJB replaced this week. They held it up before I was able to buy it to have the "recall" installed (this was after four months of chips and transportation delays).

Mine happened on a typical day weather-wise and as I was entering an on-ramp from a side highway, I gave it heavy throttle (I wouldn't say I "punched it", at least no more than usual) - that is typical for on-ramps and stop lights. However, the curve was sharper than I thought and I actually ended up applying the brake at the same time I hit a seam in the concrete at the same time I was in the curve - that part was not typical. It was a noticeable "bump".

By the time I looked back down, the Service Vehicle Soon light was on (along with the two icons) and I had received notifications on my Ford App saying Powertrain Malfunction/Reduce Power. I don't think I ever saw Stop Safely Now. Obviously from reading this I was concerned so I headed straight home and backed it into the driveway in case it wouldn't restart. However, it restarted (the Service Vehicle Soon light came on every time along with the icons) and I was able to drive it to the dealership a few days later.

After a few days, they called and said the HVBJB would need to be replaced. My question - does this cure it? Or even after the new HVBJB are you still susceptible to random events like this?

EDIT TO ADD: I had just received a software update OTA.

They are actually working on it right now

oh man you’ve been through it @DevSecOps. Hope you get well soon, and your Mach-E too!

that’s a dope remote camera system. I may have to see if I can add that to my Thinkware setup that already has off-line battery power.

Wow, Todd, sorry to hear both you and the car got sick from this trip. I guess you both really needed at least 5 days off.

I am glad to hear the work will be done at a dealer closer to you. This way not only is the car closer for pick up, but I know with your knowledge you will make sure it is with a dealer who has the experience to get the job done correctly.

I know you will keep us up to date…

I have all the appropriate stickers under the car so hopefully they see those.
You guys look at the stickers wrong. I got a free battery with 12,000 miles less use on it then the rest of the car. Let Ford destroy the battery, it's coming out for this anyway! :)

I can't publicly say why it is being towed yet, but it's not completely because of a lack of tools. As time progresses I'm sure I'll be able to say more.
Too many tools?
