Yeah...and why weren't the BCM and GFM "coordinated" updates anyway? They should have been. Like all the cruise-control modules get updated as a group, and the PCM and power-related modules get updated as a group (or 'coordinated' as Ford puts it).
Very good question.

Good point. Is the emergency button disabled while the car is in motion? I mean, a kidnap victim might want to get out while driving, but it would suck if some cargo shifted and hit that button while cruising on the highway. It would suck even more in a Lightning.
Well that did happen with some influencer who had a jack in the Frunk of the Lightning during a test and the jack shifted and hit that inside button. The Frunk didn't come completely open but apparently did open to the first safety catch.

I'll figure out which fob they're using and see if I can get one programmed as part of my 22B10 update. I think my service manager already put a fob on order though. I'll have to check and see which one he ordered.

It's finally working on my Job 1 car (build date 27.05.2021). I installed the updates for the BCM and GFM via FDRS. But I can only open the frunk via the key fob, because I have neither on the touch screen nor in the app a button to open the frunk ?
Would you happen to know the Ford part number on that fob?

Thanks,

Mike

It's come up many times in the forum. Search and find the old posts, some of them have the part #.

It's probably a waste of time though since the RF is different between NA and EU.

Mike,
Could you do all my updates on this? You are so much more knowledgable than the techs that have been messing up all my other updates thus far. I really would like to get this one done right the first time. Then I won’t have to bug you to figure it all out when it gets goofed up. Just kidding—sort of. ?

Well I knew they have different frequencies....but since they sell this car in so may places now that they might make the that Frunk/Liftgate type in a NA version as well.

Before I start, if you have a Job 2 or 2022 MME, you don't need to chime in and tell us that you've had a functional frunk button since Day 1. We know, but Job 1 cars haven't.

Ford released new updates for the BCM (Body Control Module) and GFM (Generic Function Module) last night in FDRS that seem to have activated the electronic release mechanism for the frunk. There was still no button on the screen, but the emergency release button inside the frunk and the keypad control both worked. I'm sure Ford will push an APIM config eventually to add the missing button to the Sync screen, but @i8iridium posted the line where it can manually be changed with FORScan here.

All of this is to say that @Jimrpa 's frunk button really does seem to finally be coming. If you have FDRS and FORScan, you can get it today (still not in FordPass though). If you don't have FDRS, please don't call your dealer and ask them for the updates. There is no current service campaign for it, and there may not be before it starts rolling out OTA. But this is progress, right?

Mine seems to only work if the car is running. Goes Grey if the car is in accessory mode. Rear hatch works either on of off.

That happened to TFL in their Lightning.

Did it open all the way while driving?
I don’t know the episode, but remember they got a hood (maybe frunk?) ajar warning, pulled over fairly quickly, then determined it was likely shifting cargo that pressed the release button.

They have so many channels not sure where to start search.

Edit: reached out to TFL website for comment

Tommy joined here @TFLtommy and answered some questions when TFL had a MME for review In early 2021.

Maybe he is a lurker and will see this.

In both the Lightning and Mach-E the button works while driving but only releases the frunk to the first release point. This is so that someone trapped can get air but the hood will not fly open and block the windshield.

There have been reports of shifting items hitting the button in Lightning and causing the frunk to go to that first release point. It also displays a warning on the dash with an audible warning as well
