This is the most concerning news I've heard ..... as I remember they said you had the new HVBJB part. Confirmed?

Did you get a SVS -- or a SSN?
The recall was applied to my car OTA earlier this month by Ford. Yesterday I got the Service Vehicle Soon message when driving and an obvious loss of power from the car. When I got home and pulled codes I found P0ADE & P0ADA, which are the new codes added by the recall to warn of impending bricking of the HVBJB.

Looking at my invoice from May when they replaced my first HVBJB, it lists the updated "B" version of the part (the part listed is NK4Z*10C666*B on my invoice). Now, whether or not I actually got the new part is unclear as that is just about the time the new part was released. I do know for sure though that this time I will be getting an updated part.

I have an appointment to drop it off tomorrow at the same dealer who worked on it the first time. They seemed very receptive to take it in again, especially with all of the info I was able to give them ahead of time, so that is encouraging.

If Ford wanted us to stop with HVBJB failure (post recall) then the appropriate fault would be Stop Safely Now. Service vehicle soon doesn't = don't drive.

I had no choice but to continue the drive. The only other option was to go immediately to a dealer and try to get a rental in Bakersfield which is about 4 hours south of my house. I think most people would continue the drive in an attempt to get home. If they tried to blame me for driving the vehicle I would have probably risen above my "nice guy" threshold.
With the SVS message, I certainly would have tried to drive home, thinking that more damage wasn’t imminent. ?‍♂?

.... And I assume someone from Ford is aware of this and will be looking to see if you actually had the new part. Hopefully they'll be taking your dead part back to see what your country backroad driving has done to their "fixed" part.

This would be the first time I've heard of the new design failing after being in-service in a car for any real meaningful amount of time. And you don't even have a GT.

I'd be having my "co-pilot" start looking on Google Maps for Ford dealer coverage along our route in case we had to ditch.

Please, for those of us that already had ours replaced with the supposed beefier HVBJB, please, please, ask them to check the part number directly on the box to confirm if it really was the newer -B variant. Imma die if the "new" parts are also trash lol.

Yes, I have supplied the invoice to DevSecOps, and he has sent that to the powers to be. I have also opened a case with the BEV team so they are aware of the failure and the past history (I was even able to give them the case number from my last repair).

I will ask the dealer is they can confirm the part once it is removed, but I do not know how far that will go. Since my driving habits have not changed from the first time, nor will they change after the second time so give me another 3 or 4 months to put another 6,000 miles on it and we will see if these HVBJB are really just a 6,000 mile maintenance item ?

The funny part is I almost bought the GT, but I thought to myself the 4X was good enough. Now I really wish I did get the GTPE, but given that would have meant even more voltage going through my HVBJB, maybe it was better sticking with the 4X...

This likely was not the updated part based on when the failure happened and when updated parts were available for different models. I haven't seen 100% confirmation that this is the case.

Thank you. That adds a little bit of hope. at least I know this time I will be getting the updated part and I can continue my side job of being the HVBJB tester for For

I dropped off the car today with the dealer and they seemed very knowledgeable and ready to work on the car again. I did ask for pictures of the part number on the old one if they can see it.

I feel bad hijacking this thread. What do you guys think, should I just start a separate thread or keep the updates coming g on this one?

Kinda wild you had two go bad on a 4X and some haven't had any issues on their 4X. Gonna count my blessings I guess.

I am taking my MME to DC tomorrow for a couple days, and then next week going to the Outer Banks NC. And then to Roanoke. A lot of driving, but only one DCFC stop (for the six hour drive to Roanoke from NC). I am not worried. I am excited! I love taking my car on trips!

You too can put the worry behind! Just drive and enjoy it! (I know Todd already feels this way, so this is really just for the lurkers and others who are worried about taking their car on trips. Relax!)

Every now and then when I read this forum I learn amazing things, and sometimes say to myself "I think I live in a different world". Today, it happened again. I read this thread with astonishment and amazement. I kept pinching myself, wondering if I was dreaming, or if this was real. It seems real, but I continue to wonder.

A $160 pillow? Are you F'in kidding me? Does it have sex with you?

Wow, California is a different world. ? ? ? ? ? ?

You have to keep in mind that I am not the typical MME 4X driver. I am very fortunate to live about 10 minutes out of the country where the roads open up for hundreds of miles on 2 lane open highways with very few cars and a lot of very winding roads. This allows for a lot of wide open throttle events from stops and coming out of turns, and I would say a good 80% of my MME driving has been out on these roads. Even after 11,000 miles it has not gotten old. I am totally addicted. I suspect that is why I keep going through these boxes (and tires.. which I am now a good 80% through at almost 12,000 miles).

I recently had the HVBJB replaced in my 2022 Select SR eAWD. Revised part number when we initially looked it up at dealership was -B part number. However, when they entered the part number to actually order it, the part number was changed by the parts system to -C part number. We confirmed when the part came in that it had -C at the end of the part number.

Edit: My original HVBJB did not fail. I opted to pay to have it replaced on my terms and my schedule lol.

For my part, I don't mind one bit. I hijack my own threads all the time ?
