Exactly! I thought the whole point of the Route1 was the maximum range at the lowest available price point, I would not have expected AWD to have higher demand in Route1.

We got the Premium ER RWD specifically for max range and went premium to get the B&O. For $2325 trim upgrade, the Premium's B&O plus other bells and whistles was our preferred tradeoff for AWD that is $2700 adder. (these are all '22 price itemizations, you can still play with '22 build & price via costcoauto.com)

I think also Ford and real world testing are realizing that RWD=>AWD is not as much a range loss as the EPA numbers on Select and Premium. Their Route1 reported gap was miniscule, and probably drove buyers away from Route1 RWD!

I'm curious how the other models/trims will fluctuate in the '23 EPA specs. The only number I've seen is the Premium ER AWD is updated from 277 to 290.
Exactly I was thinking to roll mine into a RT1 or reserve it separately but not anymore, they missed the whole point of a RT1

Thats exactly my point, not sure who is the intended person to buy this, seems like most people wanting max range would want the RWD
If u want max range and AWD… then it’s for those folks. And it’s a little cheaper if I’m not mistaken…

But, the better efficiency isn’t some secret sauce battery black magic as many Tesla fans believe. It’s what happens when you delete instrument panels, gauges, switches, sound deadening and so forth. Throw in cheaper, lighter plastics, thinner glass and voilĆ ! 400-500lbs lighter than the competition.

Btw, 88kWh ā€˜21 4X rated at 270, ā€˜22 91kwh went to 277 and now the ā€˜23 at 91kwh is evidently being re-rated at 290 miles to take advantage of real world results exceeding the old estimates.
are you referring to MME deleting automatic parking, kick open lift gate, sound deadening front glasses to archive higher EPA?

I'm not sure what lighter material Tesla is using, but apparently they have super high safety score and tons of interiors space. I'm amazed how big the frunk and under trunk are. I hope my MME can be same.

CA Rt 1 does not have the power lift gate. Not the 2022 or the 2023. What they did add to the 2022 was heated seats and steering wheel to match the 2022 Premium.
Sorry for the confusion @ElectrifyME , apparently still no power lift gate and it was the other additions mentioned by @devmach-e that my 2021 doesn't have as well. ?

Wish I would have known about the improved range of 290 before I bought my 22. The 40 extra miles was more important for me than the power lift gate and ambient lighting based on my driving habits.

Well, there have been some forum members with ā€˜21s who seem to have recently had the the 91kwh capacity unlocked after the S2241 recall OTA. Our 4X GOM estimate did jump after that OTA but I haven’t yet used my obd2 scanner to check battery capacity. The 290 epa rating for ā€˜23s just reflects real world results imo. Edmunds has already reported 304 miles of range in the 270 mile rated ā€˜21 4X.
