...about that Tesla mile range thing... yikes.

Keep in mind Tesla model Y is still better efficiency as its battery is only about 75kWh while 270 Miles MME is 91kWh.

Doesn't really change the range impact though. The MY is carrying around a few hundred fewer pounds due to that smaller battery which may aid its efficiency. But you still get way under the range they claim. Kyle on OOS has covered the differences in how Tesla does the range tests, and it's pretty clearly weighted to mislead consumers, and obviously works.

That doesn't mean Tesla doesn't have a fantastic drivetrain, maybe better than Ford's, but anyone buying the MY over the MME over the range claims is likely in for some major disappointment.

Agree with this list except check the power lift gate. I think they added that to CA Rt 1 after 2021. I don't have it on my 2021 Rt 1 and kind of wish I did. All the other stuff, I can live without.
My 2022 CA Rt 1 does NOT have a power lift gate.

Not the same. Ford actually does what it says it will do. So does every other manufacturer for that matter except Tesla... misses by a huge percentage.

270 mile range is for a MME extended range, AWD.
So the numbers on the visual graph in this thread are incorrect for the Y?

I still dont understand going with CA R1 for AWD only, seems like most people buying it would want the rwd model

But, the better efficiency isn’t some secret sauce battery black magic as many Tesla fans believe. It’s what happens when you delete instrument panels, gauges, switches, sound deadening and so forth. Throw in cheaper, lighter plastics, thinner glass and voilà! 400-500lbs lighter than the competition.

Btw, 88kWh ‘21 4X rated at 270, ‘22 91kwh went to 277 and now the ‘23 at 91kwh is evidently being re-rated at 290 miles to take advantage of real world results exceeding the old estimates.

That premium increase to 290 was THE only exciting thing released imo! I was happy to see that for sure:))

look at the graph... (which was done by Consumer Reports)
the EPA line is the Mfgr claimed range in warm weather.
the warm line is the actual tested range in warm weather.

you will notice that all the manufactures make or beat their claimed range... except Tesla.

Tesla misses it's claimed range by ~15%.

Thats exactly my point, not sure who is the intended person to buy this, seems like most people wanting max range would want the RWD
Exactly, perhaps they want people who are absolutely prioritizing max range to go to Premium ER RWD, which would be a more expensive (profitable) trim then CA Rt. 1 RWD if it still existed.

The mme and the y are one mile range different in warm weather. I don’t care about what they said, I care about what it does. That’s just me. It’s moot.

Premium gets 19" wheels, funky interior lighting, door sill scuff plates, power passenger seat, power liftgate, LED headlamps, adj headrests, B&O sound. Range on CA Rt1 vs Prem AWD ER should be essentially the same.
CA Route 1 does have LED headlights - they are just reflector instead of projection.

Exactly! I thought the whole point of the Route1 was the maximum range at the lowest available price point, I would not have expected AWD to have higher demand in Route1.

We got the Premium ER RWD specifically for max range and went premium to get the B&O. For $2325 trim upgrade, the Premium's B&O plus other bells and whistles was our preferred tradeoff for AWD that is $2700 adder. (these are all '22 price itemizations, you can still play with '22 build & price via costcoauto.com)

I think also Ford and real world testing are realizing that RWD=>AWD is not as much a range loss as the EPA numbers on Select and Premium. Their Route1 reported gap was miniscule, and probably drove buyers away from Route1 RWD!

I'm curious how the other models/trims will fluctuate in the '23 EPA specs. The only number I've seen is the Premium ER AWD is updated from 277 to 290.

CA Rt 1 does not have the power lift gate. Not the 2022 or the 2023. What they did add to the 2022 was heated seats and steering wheel to match the 2022 Premium.
