Ugh
Well today they looked up the wireless charging issue and then did nothing else.

They didn't finish up your 21P22 updates either...and I think I know why. There are no outstanding field service actions for your car on the ETIS system. So some tech or dealership got paid for 21P22 and possibly the BlueCruise update as well (21G01) but never finished the programming. And that's why your dealership won't do it. You should open a case with Ford to get this stuff fixed. It looks like whatever dealership it was it happened on July 8th. And they had problems with the APIM programming repeatedly (apparently not having a proper powersupply at the time) so they quit and gave the car back unfinished. But somebody took credit and got paid labor for those two programs 21P22 and 21G01 and now they won't finish them cause they can't charge labor for it.

Mike
Wow. This is very good information. Thank you. If I continue to have trouble with the dealerships, I may order the proper equipment to run my own updates. Should I start with finishing up 21P22 and then move on to the APIM Module Update / TSB 22-2150?

Dealership says all updates from FDRS - every single one - was done. Anyone mind confirming for me as of today?

Very much appreciated, and thank you

Yesterday the OBCC and RFA were updated. Lots of reading up on how to change the 12V battery.

Today the Gear Shift Module was updated and a bit of reading up on the 22S41 HVJB recall.

Here's the list of modules you still have available to update...and many of them are covered under the program 21P22 at Ford's cost.

If the car's still in the shop I'd ask them to do the 21P22 updates.

Nevermind...you're in the same boat as the other guy I just looked up...some dealer the car was in to on 2 Feb started on the 21P22 list and then bailed out on doing the rest of it like the door modules. So they've gotten paid for it and left you unable to get these door modules updated now. They won't get updated with an OTA any time soon and they were supposed to get done under program 21P22, but just like the other poster the dealer tech screwed him and claimed the labor for it but didn't do the job. Leaving you holding the bag. If you know what dealership the car was in on 2 Feb I'd take it back to them and tell them they got paid and need to finish the frickin' job.

I am so glad I do all my own updates. It makes me mad when these guys take advantage.
Do you know what they were trying to do with the APIM? Were they trying to run the software update or were they trying to perform TSB 21-2150 so that they could run the software update? I am asking because this may help me point the dealer in the right direction. Or, if I end up doing myself, I want to know exactly where to start. Thanks again.

Always an option. I did it for that very reason, as have others...most recently @737flyer.

Your APIM is at the current level (MU5T-14G676-EJ) and should reflect that in your About Sync version screen (meaning it should be around Sync 421 or higher).

If I were updating your car right now, I'd start with the GWM and then do all the door modules that were supposed to be done already months ago. And then the BCM and GFM. And then the remaining "lesser" updates in any order.

I don't know if you'll be able to get them to do them without a 'customer concern' to justify the labor.

Taking my car in tomorrow (9/1) to get my EVSE replaced and since I'll be in service I figured I would ask about my phone overheating while on wireless charger and sporadic blue tooth connections to get any updates.

Can I get my VIN checked to see if I need any other updates? VIN 3FMTK3SU5NMA01881

Thanks in advance

This is why I don’t trust them ever. Scheduled to pickup the car by the end of the day. “Every update on your sheet was done by the tech yesterday”.

Thanks for being so helpful, Mike. Last question that you may be able to help with. Would any of these get my ford power ups unstuck? 1.7.1 failed and that's the main reason I have it at the dealer. Perhaps I need to run a module repair?

That OBCC and SOBDM would be helpful to do.

I recently made the investment and did the updates myself with help from forum members. It is a significant investment, but I plan on keeping my car. A good power supply is critical and I would recommend doing the access point mod. My dealer is a great family owned business, but they are small and inexperienced with BEV. Since I have a GT I am expecting to be faced witht the HVBJB contactor failure at some point. I plan to go to my dealer if they will agree to request onsite assistance from Ford.

So this has been discussed before but there is a perception that OTAs and tech-applied-with-FDRS updates reflect each other somehow in the "Software updates" screen in Sync.

Totally disconnected.

If the last OTA you had was 1.7.1 and then months later you took your car in, and the tech did a bunch of updates with FDRS, and in the process got your APIM unstuck and sent you on your way....your last PowerUp will still be 1.7.1 until the next one comes along...even if your car is totally up-to-date and has no updates showing as available. Still 1.7.1 will be what's in the Software Updates screen in Sync.

I understand how this happens. Folks are focused on that Sync Updates screen because that's the only thing they know, and the only place they know to look. But it's only a fraction of the total picture.
