So this has been discussed before but there is a perception that OTAs and tech-applied-with-FDRS updates reflect each other somehow in the "Software updates" screen in Sync.

Totally disconnected.

If the last OTA you had was 1.7.1 and then months later you took your car in, and the tech did a bunch of updates with FDRS, and in the process got your APIM unstuck and sent you on your way....your last PowerUp will still be 1.7.1 until the next one comes along...even if your car is totally up-to-date and has no updates showing as available. Still 1.7.1 will be what's in the Software Updates screen in Sync.

I understand how this happens. Folks are focused on that Sync Updates screen because that's the only thing they know, and the only place they know to look. But it's only a fraction of the total picture.
I understand that the two are disconnected. 1.7.1 Power Up failed according to multiple people here and when I called Ford. If I get my car back from the dealership and try to resolve myself, I am wondering what the steps I should take in FDRS should be. It sounds like something related to the APIM, but you also said that my APIM was up-to-date so I wasn't sure if that would be it.

Well that's just it. I don't think it's stuck if it's at the most current revision. How could it be?

You can ask them to run the 'Module Update Repair' routine in FDRS if you want to. Takes like 30 seconds.

But unless you have corrupted data in the TCU or GWM it will likely come back as no fault found cause your APIM is at the most current version of software for your build right now. Doesn't hurt to ask them and like I said takes like 30 seconds to do.

Note: for clarification the Module Update Repair checks for corrupted data in APIM, TCU, and GWM, and if found prompts the tech to perform steps in TSB 22-2150.

Awesome. I will ask them to do this. My concern is that on the software updates screen in Sync, I don't have a current version displayed like most people. It just says it's up-to-date. I can still turn on auto updates and schedule but nothing seems to be coming through. I don't have the notes app or anything. Seems like I am wayyyyy behind.

Well ask them to confirm the Sync version in your "About Sync" screen and then ask them if they see any OTAs queued up for your car in the 'OTA Dashboard' they have in their PTS system, and if there are any indications that your car is blocked or otherwise incapable of receiving or processing OTAs. The service manager can tell you that right from his screen at his desk.

Yesterday the OBCC and RFA were updated. Lots of reading up on how to change the 12V battery.

Today the Gear Shift Module was updated and a bit of reading up on the 22S41 HVJB recall.

Here's the list of modules you still have available to update...and many of them are covered under the program 21P22 at Ford's cost.

3FMTK3SUXMMA28315-30-Aug-22.png

If the car's still in the shop I'd ask them to do the 21P22 updates.

Nevermind...you're in the same boat as the other guy I just looked up...some dealer the car was in to on 2 Feb started on the 21P22 list and then bailed out on doing the rest of it like the door modules. So they've gotten paid for it and left you unable to get these door modules updated now. They won't get updated with an OTA any time soon and they were supposed to get done under program 21P22, but just like the other poster the dealer tech screwed him and claimed the labor for it but didn't do the job. Leaving you holding the bag. If you know what dealership the car was in on 2 Feb I'd take it back to them and tell them they got paid and need to finish the frickin' job.

I am so glad I do all my own updates. It makes me mad when these guys take advantage.
Bleh. Thanks for the info. I know exactly who. The same one who's had the car for 47 days in my first 1 year, 1 month, and 8 days since I purchased it. So if possession is 9/10ths of the law, I guess I haven't passed 1-year of ownership yet then?

Alright so a few updates here. My SYNC Software Version is 21008_Product Revision: 252. I was able to get the dealer to apply the WACM Update and my iPhone now charges wirelessly! I had less luck with everything else. Called the dealer in NJ that supposedly performed the BlueCruise Update and asked for service records. Attached is a screenshot of the record where they allegedly performed this. What's interesting to me is they acknowledge the APIM and TCU issue but act as if it completed. I have the car back. I am going to do my own updates on Friday. One of my first items of business may be to run the Module Update Repair to see if anything pops up.

It’s amazing how we’re doing a better job updating our cars than the dealerships.

Please can someone check the following VIN for any DTCs:

VIN: WF0TR3SS5NMA00496

I have an issue with 1-Pedal Drive disengaging itself while driving. It has done this at least 10 times in the last 5 months of ownership. There is another owner here in the UK with exactly the same issue. I have described the issue in this thread:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...lf-off-disengages-itself-while-driving.19036/

Thanks for any help you can give in trying to understand the issue so it can be fixed.

Dealership is insisting every single update is done. That until the “paperwork is processed” it won’t show. What. Does it take time to clear out? Believe it’s usually right away.

3FMTK4SE6MME02160 is the VIN.

Is it possible they’re checking the wrong system or something? It’s a reputable Ford dealership.

It seems like a lot of owners are having problems getting their software updates at the dealership. It was definitely worth buying the obd ll adapter and charger and doing the updates at home. The learning experience was great and I fixed most of my little bugs.
I shared the list of modules that needed to be updated with my dealership - even sent them a screenshot of the list (as provided by @Mike G). Also asked them why they didn’t update everything prior to my picking the car up.

Their response: all updates are done OTA, just plug it to the charger and the car will update itself.

I thought these could only be done at the dealership, or if I bought the tools/licenses to do it myself (with all the risks involved). Did I something or are they clueless?

One of two things are happening here. The service manager really doesn't know how FDRS works, or this is a delaying tactic to get you off their back.

This is your list as shown in the SW Updates tab of FDRS as of a minute ago. FDRS updates the database after every module it processes, immediately. Because sometimes when one module is updated it causes a sequence to show another module that is now available due to dependencies having been satisfied.

Mike, thank you so much. I just called and spoke to the boss over there. He assured me his tech did all updates. I told him to please to go the tech, have him put in my VIN, select SW UPDATES, and verify he sees nothing to update. He said he believes his guy, but will do so once the tech returns from lunch. Either the tech is lying or has no clue how to do it. So frustrating. I can only imagine how many customers come in for updates and leave with nothing done.

I assume there’s some kind of report he can print to verify everything done? I should ask for that!
