Why... How .... it's like money theft. The order literally says dealer selling price... in that way, anyone can do anything but the question is how is it allowed, as I placed the order myself, and they just act as a delivery person here. This feels like Pizza delivery asking for 30% extra money at our door... But let's see what happens
While "they can do whatever they want" is a little extreme, there is a chance they could pull something at delivery. But when it comes to orders, that kind of thing is not the norm. Especially as each passing week shows a cooling car market and dealers can't just expect someone else to come along and buy it for their insane mark up.

Just be confident, don't tell them it's your first car purchase (assuming it is) or anything to that effect. Take your time, ask them to explain anything you find unusual, and others said not to go alone and if you have any options there I also recommend it.

Good luck, deep breaths, odds are it will all be fine.

In the future, with any car, get costs agreed to or at least know before going in to purchase the car. There is fine print in the order that indicates it is a suggested retail price. What are your financing plans. There will be those costs too. Also there was a decent Ford Options rate in January with I believe some rebate value (not 100% sure on rebate.) Unless you have financing in place you should at least look into that. I believe it was 2.59 or 2.79%.

$1000 in fees depending on state
$1-6 thousand on taxes
$350- $1000 for add-ons

I purchased 2 Mach-E both 97% online. 3% sign Ipad when i showed up. You see price breakdown up front. 2nd Mach-E we purchased we traded ID 4. Almost everything was done online. They gave good amount for our trade in. The numbers were on point when we showed up both times. No dealer shenanigans.. i recommended doing as much as you can online.

The problem is the long lag time for cars these days, and the lack of inventory. When you order a pizza, you actually buy it within 20 minutes. The market value doesn't change. But with 9 months between placing an order (which is usually more like a reservation), the market value can change a lot before you actually buy it.

When placing the order, you can try to get the dealer to make a clear commitment in writing (or even email) for what the actual selling price will be. But even that may not be a full guarantee. Just gives you more ammunition to work with. Most dealers are pretty honest if making a price commitment, but some aren't.

Double check all numbers. My dealer has an F&I guy who makes you feel like an idiot if you say no to their warranty, and then he "accidentally" added $3k to my selling price on the final selling agreement and loan paperwork. Also disregarded my request to check out the Ford Options plan.

Good luck. Keep your head, say NO to any and all add-ons, and double check all paperwork and numbers.

$350-$1000 for add-ons sure sounds like dealer shenanigans to me.

What does their website say? Many say you get $1k credit or so for ordering. Don't let them add ANYTHING to the price. They'll try and play the stupid game of showing you monthly financed rates w/ nonsense included like "for only $30 more a month you can get (insert over-priced nonsense here)". The answer is always no. "I want my vehicle and nothing else". If you didn't sign / receive anything on ordering about an ordering discount, you probably won't get. If they try and hit you with ADM or other "market adjustment", start raising hell. Put on a good show, make sure everyone hears you.

If you want an extended warranty via ford (MME is really cheap for long warranties, easily ~900$ range), you can get it after the fact. I know of 2 dealers that sell it cost + $50. You can do it online or over the phone and the price is the same as long as you get it before 12 months / 12k miles of buying the car.

Under no circumstances should you allow them to add anything, no 'paint protection' or anything else. NO NO NO not interested. Say it repeatedly :)

Eventually you'll get to the sales sheet that has everything clearly spelled out like this one. Most dealers have scumbag fees masquerading as any number of line item labels. Sometimes it's "documentation fee" "pre-delivery service fee" or "dealer fee". These are just made up nonsense to increase the price without putting it on the sticker. Don't be fooled, these are strictly to pull more money out of your pocket and put it into theirs. There's already plenty of profit built into the MSRP of the vehicle. Most of them won't budge on it.

Thanks. So I did get my paperwork done....

Can someone please cross check this and share whether this looks fine....

There are couple of things I wanted to confirm.
1. Since this is my first car, they said the best loan I can get is for 36 month at 3.9% . I put 20k downpayment. I know this is high and my credit score is above 700...what are my options to refinance easily?
2. The same happened to me, and I added 2.5k extended warranty from "MPP", for the 7 year/100k miles thing.
They kept on insisting and I added it after they said it is free to cancel within 30 days...
So should it be fine to cancel as soon as I get the car by just calling MPP ??

Please advise on the above, I'm going to pick my car tomorrow, although I have signed the documents, so any last minute adjustments, I can try tomorrow... Also, someone please go through the attached receipt (my plan although has the 2.5k extra, which makes it ~57600 which I intend to cancel and get the full waiver of 2.5k soon) ... Thanks!

The little snippet you included above looks pretty good to me... I don't see the service contract you said they sold you or whatever else you cropped out of the photo so I'm not sure about the rest.

Yes read the paperwork you signed for the service contract. It will have the specific instructions you need to follow asap to cancel that contract and be refunded.

Since you have a loan and not a lease, you can refinance it whenever/wherever you'd like to. Read your contract for terms and gotchas.

Thanks for checking .
So yes, after this the finance section added the 2.5k extended warranty and I signed the final contract including that.
So the above number of 55187$ looks good ? Assuming I should be able to cancel the 2.5k warranty within a few days

Seems like you're paying pretty darn close to MSRP, right?

Again add ons . You don't want them don't add them.. $ if you think $350-$1000 add ons are dealer shenanigans. Than your expectations are way to high on dealers.

Aloha,
It looks like you did pretty well.

First, it's a damn expensive car for a first car. We all know that and that's why we are getting the Mach E.

Next, there is no evidence of additional junk added on top of MSRP in the information you shared. An expensive after market service/ coverage plan is a separate issue, and I agree with the other poster: read that contract slowly and carefully and decide if you want to keep it. Also: you do not have to add it now, you can take that info about the plan and purchase it later. It is OK to tell them tomorrow that you need to wait and think that one over a bit longer.

The fees look fine. each state is different.

Taxes look like CA 9.14% normal, so... ouch! :)

Finance at 3.9% current rates for Navy Federal Credit Union, which we have been a member of for 40+ years are at least 4.5%. And it ain't going down soon, because of the Fed and inflation. 3.9% is a good rate today! You won't be able to refinance for a few years, until inflation resolves. It sucks, but it is a cyclical thing in our economy.

Overall, without reading your contracts for finance or extended warranty, this appears, on the surface to be as good a deal as one can get these days in CA. I ordered mine in Hawaii the home of the additional dealer markup (ADM) and still got lucky with only a $2,995 ADM, because after I did that, the dealer wised up, saw the opportunity and elevated the ADM to $6K. But I have it in writing.

Go for it! Make your payments and enjoy every moment of driving that beauty.

Without knowing what the MSRP was for the car (that's on the window sticker), and the specific trim that you got (Premium? Select? AWD? RWD? Extended battery?), we can't tell you if you got ripped off or not. However, I looked up the VIN, and that appears to be a Premium RWD Standard Range, and the MSRP for that is indeed $49,875.

Personally I would not pay for an extended warranty. The biggest ticket item in the car already has an 8-year/100K mile warranty. If you do insist on getting an extended warranty, make sure to get one from Ford themselves. Third party warranties (i.e not offered directly by Ford) are notorious for trying to weasel out of any claims. Just because you get the warranty from a Ford dealership doesn't mean it is a Ford-factory backed warranty.

You have the option of getting financing from anywhere you want, including a credit union or a local bank. You do not have to use what the dealer offered you. 3.9% for 36 months isn't horrible., but you might be able to do better.

Another issue with the extended warranty is the dealer also marks it up. If it is not a Ford extended warranty you may have to get a refund from both the dealer and the warranty provider. If it is at all still possible just tell the F&I person no to the extended warranty if you are not interested. I am an old foggy so I did get one but it was at cost and was around $1,000. So huge mark up on yours.
