2021 Job 2 MME that came woth two fobs. I have an iPhone 12 pro and I am unable to setup PAAK. I’ve tried everything suggested on the forums and then just gave up.

if your PAAK configuration failed part way thru, you have to DELETE everything from phone and MME, and re-configure from scratch and pair 'regular' BT after setting up PAAK.

As good as the fob.
Premium AWD standard range. 2021 job2.
Samsung galaxy S21.
The only difference with the fob is that I need to make sure that FordPass was opened. PAAK still works if the phone is locked.

I still keep the fob in the car, hidden in the Faraday bag, but only reached for it when dropped the car for service.
I don't think it is possible for PaaK to be as good as the fob unless we are okay handing our phone to someone else when they drive our car. So for that reason alone, it can't be as good.

I do agree that PaaK can be good enough though. Especially for people who are the only ones to drive the car and/or are the type that are constantly using their cellular device. Like my wife, that phone is in her hand almost every waking minute of the day. She only sets it down to shower and sleep.

Please pick the one option that best describes your PAAK experience. Then, please respond below with:

1. Your poll choice.
2. Your MME and year.
3. Your phone.
4. Whether you are treating your phone like a fob or if you are doing anything with it (taking it out of your pocket, unlocking it, etc.) to get your result.

If you are bringing your phone out of your pocket and opening up FordPass, etc. to get to your “PAAK works great” result… that’s doesn’t mean PAAK works as well as the fob.

This is going to assume that you are doing what you are supposed to do for PAAK to work optimally - keeping FordPass running in background and you have Background App Refresh enabled.
Not as good as fob but not having issues below

21 Premium 4X

IPhone 12 smaller version

I mostly have phone in my hand or pocket as long as the ford app is running on my phone it works. I regularly drive around town with out my fob. I have experienced delay of door opening maybe 4-5 times out of all the times (13000 miles worth over 10 months). PAAK has worked very well and consistent for me. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with my Mache to date on the software side and hardware side not saying everything is perfect and ideal however it has worked as it should 95% of the time. Computer on wheels need need reboots in some way for basic issues. So I am satisfied with the progression of PAAK.

Doesn't work as good as a key but 46k miles on almost exclusively PAAK, have never been stranded anywhere, more times than not it's a phone issue if I'm having any problems.

Went from s22 ultra to Galaxy fold 4 and it's been an even better experience
I would agree that the phone is more of the problem than the car itself. I haven't carried the key fob since end of May and never been stranded either.

This is tough because 90%+ of the time it works with 0 hiccups. Then occasionally I have to hit the button a few times to get the door to open but that doesn't bother me. Rarely, but not never does it not want to start the actual car. IDK, I don't like this poll because I don't feel like answering it honestly makes since because I almost never have issues.

1. Better than the fob.
2. 21 early Job 2 4XP.
3. iPhone 12
4. Used the fob exclusively from Dec. 21 to June 22. Used PaaK exclusively from June to current.

Why better than the fob? Simple a frunk button, with deferential apologies to all the J1 & FE owners still waiting.

The small differences in practical operation between the fob and PaaK have been in the noise, which is probably the best explanation, frankly.

Still keep a "disabled" fob handy, but haven't touched it in months.

Do get an occasional chuckle from driving away from a parking spot, only to be alerted that "no key detected." ?‍♂

1. PaaK isn't as good as the fob.......
2. Premium AWD ER
3. Samsung S22+ upgraded from LG V20 during MME ownership
4. Using phone as a fob under "lightweight" operation scenarios, otherwise rely on fob. Would secondarily rely on backup codes for door and console without fob or functioning phone.

PAAK absolutely SUCKED and I disabled it until the csp and after that it has almost always worked. When it didn't all I had to do was start Fordpass and hit unlock and it worked again.

You guys are blowing my mind with these responses. Keep ‘em coming.

So far - even after adjusting for a few of you guys that are pulling your phone out of your pocket and doing three jumping jacks plus a quarter turn to the left… but then saying your phone works the same as the fob - still over 50% of us think PAAK works just as good as the fob or has very minor issues.

That has NEVER been even close to my experience, and I’ve had about every damned update available pushed to my 2021 FE during my visits to the service center every 3-4mos.

Keep phone in my pocket when approaching unless using for something else so as fob like as I can have a phone be

Since the latest round of updates (3.5.4.2 for me) my PAAK has been basically flawless. Prior to that I would have fallen into the 20% or so range where it had slow response or I had to take phone out of my pocket, except for the week I had 3.5.4 and my PAAK just wouldn’t really work at all. Now I get pony welcome lighting almost every time and immediate response from door button press. Sometimes it unlocks on first press then opens on second press which is the only delay I’ve experienced since 3.5.4.2 but isn’t longer than a second or so. Rear hatch foot open works like it does with a fob now too. Start button push works first time as well, but sometimes get an erroneous “no key detected” after start, but that doesn’t affect anything from operating or connecting.

The opposite is true for me. I now have a frunk button on the fob, but have no way to open the frunk from my phone. This has actually led to me carrying the fob more than I did before.

I agree with that. Even more, and I just realized today walking toward the car and wanting to unlock the doors - it's so much easier to unlock the doors from the fob than opening the app and hold the "unlock" icon for a few seconds, and it doesn't always work either. So, I guess, my answer should be "for everything I use PAAK it works as well as the fob". And when I need to open frunk, I prefer to touch the code on the B-pilar than rich for the phone.
