Grizzl-e. It’s a smart charger but not using it as one since I was unable to get it connected to my Wi-Fi

My account was locked because I was using Tronity.

I think pretty much everyone using Tronity will have their account locked if not already locked. Tronity no longer allows new Ford users to sign up and they are trying to work out an arrangement with Ford so they can reestablish the connection. I was told it may be available again next year.

I really liked Tronity and used if for 10 months before it became a problem.

I asked because the 3rd party apps can get their info from the smart chargers instead of FordPass. I use ev.energy and they connected my JuiceBox in the backend even though it isn’t listed as a supported EVSE in the app. But, you must have the Wi-Fi access.

And another thing..............if they can see a 3rd party app accessing things can they not tell me what the offending app is? I no nothing of these things so pardon my ignorance
I think that's an issue with their support system.

Ford is really struggling with the transition to cars being a tech platform. They want to deliver a technically advanced car but are still incredibly risk adverse towards any technology that could be exploited or misused. So you get APIs that you can't access, hands free driving that wants your hands on the wheel for every moderate curve, toll gantry, lane merge, forum accounts that want to help but are constrained to asking for your VIN and dealership.

They are going to force customers away if they continue to treat people like they treated me on the phone. They tell me it’s my fault and I need to fix it, but only generically tell me what’s wrong. Then I have to go elsewhere to figure out what I did. SMDH

So you didn't realize that you gave another copy the ability to log into your account? And that's Ford's fault?

as you are reading your own data, where is the issue not allowing that.
I also don't see the necessity for an agreement between Ford and Third Party as the data is already owned by you.

Ford software however does not provide detailed information, but third party app does.
Did you read all the fine print when you got the car, and signed up for services. Hint - it's not YOUR data.

No I did not realize that it would be an issue. I used an app to give me info that Ford does not. If it was a problem they could have easily sent an email stating so and I would have fixed it. Instead they just lock me out with no explanation until I call to find out why. Then customer service is unable to tell me which app is the issue. She actually told me I could not use an app besides FordPass to charge my vehicle, obviously incorrect but she said it twice. If they can see an app accessing info then they can tell me who it is. But no, they just flip a switch and then threaten me to be blocked out permanently instead. That’s where my issue is.

Look at that! Something we disagree about!

I can agree that it is Ford's servers, so not mine, but my car is owned by me, not Ford. It is my private property. I am giving Ford permission to use my data and put it on their servers, but it is still my data.

If you change your FordPass password that should block the 3rd party’s access.

It looks like Chevrolet might about to crack down as well.

I got an email and a push notification to the MyChevy App reminding me not to share my credentials with any third party apps.

Seems like common sense especially when you consider how many people use the same password for multiple sites.
