How to confirm it's locked?

Just picked up my MME yesterday,and am loving it!!

I'm trying to figure out how to confirm the car is locked when I walk away from it. I usually press the lock icon on the B pillar, but if I try pressing the door open button to see if it's locked it just reopens due to the key fob passive unlock.

I turned on the walk away lock but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The lights aren't flashing & the horn isn't beeping even though I have it set to do so. How far away must you be for it to do the walk away lock,and how long do you have to wait? The manual says it will lock after 150 seconds of no activity - that seems like an awfully long time to wait before walking away.

I simply watch for the mirrors to fold in. If folded then it’s locked.

How far away must you be for it to do the walk away lock

For me, in a parking lot it’s sbout 30 feet or whenever I lose Bluetooth, such as going inside a building. As mentioned, look at the mirrors.

I also watch the mirrors fold in and I get the push notification in FordPass.

I think the manual says 10 feet, but mine seems a little more than that, maybe 15 to 20. I never wait.

If for some reason the car thinks a door or the rear hatch is open, walkway won’t work. It might be worth having your dealer check it.

I have walk away lock with horn activated so if I don't hear the horn (which does happen every once in a while) I know to lock the doors using my Apple Watch that has the Ford Pass App installed.

You might want to try resetting auto lock on walk away by turning it off and then turning it back on. A lot of times when things like this happen turning them off then back on again resets everything.

Couple tips about walk away lock. The horn sound is really loud - a real honk, not just a courtesy beep. You can turn it off. The lights will flash and the mirrors fold in at the same time. Mine has worked flawlessly since day one but I hear others having some issues after software updates. One gotcha - if you left the fob in the car, like in your wife’s bag because she uses it and you use PAAK, the walk away lock becomes a walk-as-far-as-you-want-and-I-won’t-lock-ever. It’s possible that might happen at a rest stop on a road trip - just possible.

It's working now. I was parked in my garage, so I had to walk down the driveway and across the street to get it to kick in. It scared my wife when the horn beeped ?

You can also manually push the lock icon on drivers door or the 7 and 9 on the key pad on the door. Or you can lock using the FordPass app in all cases you should see some lights activate and the mirrors move

Walk away lock is wildly inconsistent. Sometimes it doesn’t work at all, and sometimes it locks as I’m closing my front door and trying to open my back door. It’s pretty risky to rely on it.

Sorry to hear that it doesn’t work great for you. Like I said, for me, it’s been flawless. I don’t even check it except on the road, like at rest stops, because, .. yeah.

I rely on fordpass app giving a notification sound. I sometimes carry both paak and fob, and paak always gives me a sound when the car locks. If I don't hear anything walking away, I lock using the app

If you use the Ford pass app you can set it to send you an alert that the car has been locked. You can also set the car within the Sync system to honk the horn once when it locks. I find PAAK works so good now - almost too good. I have to be quite far now in order for It to lose signal and then activate.
