How to charge to 80-90% at home outside of your "locaton" based preferences?

I have our MME set up to automatically charge up to 90% by 8am but there are times I'd like to come home plug in during the day and have it charge up to 90% and I can't figure out how to do that.

Right now I can disable location based charging but then when I plug in it will start charging immediately but it goes up to 100%. Any suggestions about how to limit it to 90%? Thanks in advance.

There isn't an easy way to do this via FordPass or in vehicle without editing the location's preferred charge times, unfortunately. I wish we had an option to set a default charge limit irrespective of location, but that is not currently supported.

If you have a WiFi connected L2 charger at home, you may find it easier to push the charge time logic off to the charger app so you can toggle the schedule there and just have FordPass responsible for the 80% or 90% limit. You may find it easier to flip a switch in, say, your ChargePoint app than to jump through the charge location settings in FordPass.

Got it, thanks. So you would turn off "location" based chargin in the MME and have the juicebox40 handle it? I just looked at it and don't see such an option and the Ford Pass doesn't even show the charge settings.

You'll still need a charge location set in order to set the 90% limit, but you can remove the scheduling aspect and let (I believe) your Juicebox app handle that. That's assuming it's easier to turn the schedule on and off in the Juicebox app than it would be to edit the charge settings in FordPass.

The options in the juicebox are no different than in the vehicle, unfortunately.

Change the charge time window to 12am to 12am and it will charge to the 90% anytime the car is plugged in at that location.

Well, logic would be if you want it to charge during peak you plan on leaving sooner than the next morning. Just go in FordPass and have it override scheduling and go to 100% for the session. If it is more than occasional once a week thing I would just have it charge to 90 when plugged in.

@kindofblue This is may work.

Set the car location to the 90% limit and request power at anytime. 12 am to 12 am schedule. Then control the time of when power can be allowed to charge with the Juicebox.

So basically the car controls the charge % and the Juicebox controls the time.

I have the time controlled by my ChargePoint EVSE as a backup in case the car loses the location/charge settings and tries to charge off schedule.

Thanks. It's still a hassle though relative to Tesla's charging options.

You could tap charge to 100% in the app and then press stop charging when it hits 90%. You would need to keep an eye on it but it will not mess with your current schedule.

How often is “occasionally?” I’d just let it go to 100% and not worry about it.
