Or the dealer didn’t realize it takes 5 hours to go from 50% to 100% on their level 2 charger.
My point was that no vehicle is sitting in Mexico for months at 100% charge, because they aren't shipped with anywhere near that.

The plant doesn't charge anywhere near 100%, just like they don't put a full tank of gas in ICE vehicles. Some get delivered vehicles with not a full charge because the dealer never charged it. It's around 50%.
My first MME was delivered to me @20% charge after less than a hour on charger. It probably arrived the dealer a little more than 10%.
My second MME stayed overnight at the dealer before I took delivery. Salesman had it charged to 100%, don't know what percentage it arrived at.

There's no reason to take time in factory to charge to a high percentage.

Two reasons they don't charge much at the factory. One, battery life. Two, cost. They'd rather the dealer use their electricity, and the customer is paying for it, just like you pay for a tank of gas when you buy an ICE vehicle (it's on the invoice).

When it gets to 60ish I charge to 80. To 100 night before a trip.

From the charge logs It looked like the car was transported from Mexico to Virginia with about 50% charge.

When I get down to 40-ish, I charge to 90%.
Do you see any advantage to letting it run down to 40%? I keep mine charged to 90%. I really don't need much range, I only drive about 20 miles per day if that?

Q: Why do you keep it at 90% if you only go 20 miles per day? Why not keep it at 70% and stress the batteries less.

I charge weekly to 80% when it gets down to 20-30%. I only plug in when it needs to charge. I have short commutes but would charge to 90% daily if I needed the range. When I go on a trip, I charge to 100% before I leave.

We are retired so don’t drive much. Our furthest trip is around 140 miles so when the battery gets down to around 50% in summer I charge to 90. That way I can get to my son’s and back with some buffer. In winter I try to keep it at 90% due to decreased range. I also tend to leave it plugged in in winter for 12 volt maintenance and cabin conditioning in cold weather. Rather warm up with house current that sacrifice some range.

90% is what the manual says for daily and 100% when needed. But you're free to do whatever you want and listen to anyone on this forum that you think is a battery expert. I wish more people would back their claims with factual studies so people could make informed decisions.

I charge when it gets below 65% and only go to 80% for daily travels - also retired.
Using an OpenEVSE Charger set for 16 amps.
