it was a voluntary measure, and some industries were willing to do it and some weren't - it's why we have 2 liters of soda pop but a gallon of milk. The milk folks actually were one of the biggest problems.

I still want to know why the renamed “centigrade” to “Celsius”? That’s always been so confusing to me. As a kid, I learned centigrade and now I have to convert everything to Celsius for some reason ???

11 pages and having now read them all, allow me to summarize: "This document at the EPA from like forever ago gave a number and if you do math you get another number and that number is too small but the document isn't actually the real document or even really meaningful in real life."

So many words for, well, nothing.
oh my god two more pages since I wrote this

Since a President tried to enforce converting to it, as a people we had to stand up for our constitutional right to use stupid measurement schemes.
If the length of a King’s foot was a good enough measuring system for 13th century England, by golly it’s good enough now.

All this divide or multiply by 10 stuff is just a fad anyway. :p

I have no idea what he wrote since I've blocked him but anyone thinking they really drive 4-5 hours between charging stops is probably full of s**t (and p**s).
I think it's more a peace of mind issue. Once you have driven a BEV the range issue doesn't present so much of an issue, but before you have one lots of people want a large cushion. If you had six hundred miles of range you'll stop at the same two chargers you would if you had three hundred miles of range. However, in your mind you're thinking: "If one of those chargers are out of service, no big deal, I can make it to the next one".

Other than the anxiety, with 300 miles of range -- or thereabouts -- the ability to go on longer trips is much more about charging availability and reliability than range.

Personally I'm more concerned about whether the wheelbase will translate into a smooth ride and how much road noise there is. For longer trips I'm a Hands Free Whisper kind of guy. ;)

Sure, but Canadians are capable of understanding that everything is based on factors of 10. Boston matt and the rest of us here in the US can only comprehend multiplying by arbitrary factors like 12, 5280, 128, etc.
We are bilingual up here we work in both; metric and christian units. What it does include is twice as many wrenches, sockets, tape measures etc. Is that a 12, 13 or 1/2"?. We call it the almost converted to metric system. Hardware store lobbyists is my theory ;).

The problem actually is american cars use SAE and Asian cars use metric. And then their is the metric sizes that match up with the SAE i.e. 13/16=21mm. I have both so im ready to work on this MachE after i get rid of my Rogue.
P.S. off topic but why the bloody hell does Europe use torx for everything, who the heck has torx sockets.

Has the website been changed to the numbers on the cert? Three months have passed since that test. There should be some calibration improvement between then and now.
Hope so, a lot of pitchforks in this thread. I’m on pins and needles as I’m giving up my chance for another vehicle, and I would hope that the vehicle would perform better. Is a calibration improvement even capable of making much of a change in something so determined by the physics of the vehicle?

Is that true with Ford? GM has been metric for quite a while. I just restored/modernized a '92 K1500 Blazer a couple of years ago, all metric. Not a biggie I guess if the Mach-e is SAE, like you I have a complete set of tools in each... I was expecting Metric though.

Torx=Best invention since sliced bread!!! Damn I hate phillips. Why is that even made anymore? Yeah, I get it for things like drywall, but phillips is crap for most applications. Internal hex isn't bad, but Torx is stronger. The nice thing about Torx bolts over external hex is you do away with the interference issues if the bolt is too close to something else. I've probably left gallons of blood--literally--under car hoods over the years for just that one thing. I like the standardization of torx as well. Even with internal hex you still have to figure out if it's SAE or metric. Torx, just find the one that fits tight.
