Any updates? How did it go?

How long does this “fix” take?

I have appointment Monday and will be giving dealership this exact info.

Thank you Anthony and Lee! My dealership is working on this as we speak, fingers crossed this does the trick.

Robert, the Ford rep on here is on their social media team so getting into the engineering details is not something they'd do. For what it's worth, my dealership didn't care where I got the info. If you just tell them to use/check SSM 51292 as the solution they will see it on their end from an official Ford channel. It just came out on the 11th, my dealership service department said they hadn't seen it yet but started the software patch as soon as they checked.

I appreciate the tip, just curious…Who gave you this update?

If the Ford agent here isn’t offering any useful info, and the dealerships aren’t aware of how to solve the issue, I’m wondering who is providing this information or how they got it. I imagine dealership might ask me where this info came from as well.

Glad I’m on the forum and got this before I go to dealership on Monday. Thanks!

I bought my brand new Mach E in December. This last weekend the alarm started going off with a weird message at random times in the day and the middle of the night.

It just started after the New Year, once mid-day this weekend. And now it's gone off 4 times in the last 24 hours. (1/3 10:29 pm, 1/4 2:21 am, 1/4 4:45 am, 1/4 9:32 am). The official message on my FordPass app is "...security system has detected door opened and triggered the alarm at..." The cameras in the driveway confirmed that no one was around the car at all last night to trigger the alarm and all the doors were closed and remained closed.

The only door I opened recently that I had not prior to the weekend was the Trunk that's under the hood. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Although my 0-dark-30 alarm early December event did not include any door notifications, it turns out that the inside motion sensors were triggered by mice in the Mach E cabin. We confirmed it by later finding my sealed bag of dried cherries I had stashed under the passenger seat, chewed (nibbled?) open and dried cherries strewn all thru the car's interior including across the trunk floor. The alarm must have scared the mouse raiders off.

I've been parking outside ever since.

IMHO the gentle heat of the charging battery might have attracted the mouse party, and they then found the bag of dried cherries and SMSed each other for free grub. Just "be aware".

The fix took a few minutes. I haven’t picked up the car yet we were away and I want to make sure it doesn’t go off for a few nights before taking it back. I’m going to reach out tomorrow morning and can update then. Assuming the issue was fixed will have it back in 24 hours. The software patch was done in a matter of minutes though I do know that

The fix for the door alarms going off is to update the door modules, not replace the TCU. I think your dealer is on the wrong track. This SSM just came out the other day, tell your dealer:

SSM 51292 - False Alarm Activation
if an SSM like this exists, can a dealer be reimbursed by ford for warranty service? my SA said they did the update but ordinarily would not do it unless there is an actual problem with the car. the implication was that ford will not pay them to do this service and that they had done me a favor.

i would have assumed that if the update is available, then ford has identified a problem, and if the car is under warranty, it's warranty work. is this correct?

Yes, Ford will reimburse the dealer for the warranty work per the SSM. Technically it should only be done if the vehicle is experiencing the issue.

Thank you for this SSM information. I am going to call and make an appointment to have this done tomorrow. My car is working overtime setting off that stupid alarm recently. It's so random and so annoying.

I've had the car back now for 2 days. No alarms for me and no alarms for dealership over the weekend. So going on 5-6 days with no alarm. Easy process to get it fixed by dealer once I gave them SSM and fingers crossed it solved the issue.

Same here... Four times in 24 hours. I can't have this car around my home, so I'm parking away from home until I can get into service. What a mess for a car that is just 6 days old...

I dropped my 6 day old Mach-e Select at the dealership yesterday, and they just said it will be a few days. It will soon have spent a third of its life in service... Not a great indication of reliability.
My neighbors and I all lost sleep from the stupid alarm, and I have no car :-(. I'm really hoping this is just a fluke, as it's otherwise a great car.

@Sillybibbles & @Starscrean I had this same problem with a CR1 I bought just a few weeks ago. For me it only occurred when I had the auto-lock “walk away” feature on. With that off life was tolerable till I got into the dealer. Thankfully the SSM module update resolved the issue for me. Hope it does the same for you all. Best of luck.

I have the alarm problem too. Both the door issue several times a week. And frequent motion detection alarms. I turn off motion detection at shut down. But it keeps turning itself on.

I'm not sure if these are two distinct problems (door and motion) or one. But it's a major problem.

Any suggestions?

Hey there! If you send over a DM With your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

I have a somewhat different alarm problem. I sometimes leave my windows down if I’m parked in my garage. If I am walking close to the car, especially near the doors, the alarm will go off. I often don’t have my phone or key fob with me so it’s a pain in the neck. is there a way to disable the alarms if it’s going to be in a garage?
