Well, after reading the information here, I knew it was a matter of time until the HVBJB would fail.

Mine failed driving at 60 mph, flat road, no hard acceleration and 38 degrees.

I was fortunate that it happened near my house, so I was able to make it home. I live near a Ford dealership, so I am hoping that I can make it there.

I will update how my replacement goes. Fortunately, I have a backup vehicle (2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR).

I will miss my MEGT though, hopefully the new part holds up.

Build date on a 22 can't be 12/22, that would be a 23. Likely 12/21, assuming you made a typo.

He could mean 12/22/21, which would be a Wednesday. And why he only has 4600 miles in January 2023. Probably just got the car in September 2022. Guessing.

Has anyone with the HVBJB issue worked with a dealer that could not perform the repair? If so, how was that handled?

The closest dealer to me may not have anyone trained to work on the Mach-E, the closest dealer that does have someone trained is nearly 200 miles from me.

My concern is dropping my Mach-E off for it to sit and then be told they cannot fix it, I would rather drop it off to a dealer who has performed the repair.

I am curious if anyone has ran into this issue and how it was handled.

Thank you in advance.

I would call and ask if they have an EV certified tech and the relevant equipment (which is the more costly portion of doing the work). The HVBJB repair needs a battery lift or something, if I recall correctly, which is really expensive. If they say no and/or they have no idea what the HVBJB is, ask what the process is.

I believe @DevSecOps originally went into a dealer that didn't have the equipment or wasn't confident doing the repair and that dealer had it towed to another dealer.

I watched the battery removal process on YouTube (Weber auto) and what you said is exactly my concern, whether or not they have the equipment. The job itself is not overly complicated from what I saw however, the specific equipment along with the proper training are a concern.

I will check and if they are not able to confirm, I will tow it to the other dealership. While not ideal, I know they will do the repair correctly (and verify the part as well).

Call the customer relations number tomorrow and have them assist you in locating an EV certified dealer

I will reach out again, the first time I opened the case, they did not have a list. Thank you for the suggestion.

Kinda Sorta ... They had a tech that just got through the training, but had never done the repair. Corporate was involved in my replacement and they had the car towed to a dealer of my choice.

The original dealer was 1.5 hours south of where I live, that's where the car just broke down and said, "no more".

I believe part of the reason they relocated the car was because they didn't have the tools to test the battery seal as well.

But your point is spot on, find a dealer that will have the necessary tools to do the repair "if you can". In my case, I was stuck, with complete failure, in a small farming town at least 50 miles from another dealer and had no other choice.

Thank you, if the dealer is unable to confirm the equipment, I will see if Ford will tow or at least cover some of the cost.

I will keep this post updated and will update the main HVBJB thread as well. I am in Virginia, and am surprised with how limited the dealer options are considering the high number of Mach-Es in this area.
