When I did my Lightning there were two steps to getting to the new UI (from Sync 539). The first was to Sync 610...which showed absolutely no visual differences from Sync 539...only the version number was different...and then a gateway update and then the update of the APIM to Sync 640 for the new UI.

Kinda strange how they have these separate code branches...kinda stoopid too. The 23 models actually don't have all the Sync features that the 21/22 models have right now. That's crazy. But don't you guys have the newer BlueCruise with lane changing etc. ?

Yes, I do have the BC with the lane changes. Hopefully 592 is "normal" for those of us with early '23s, and I don't fall into the no-update hole.

It shows it's still in your list in FDRS...Have you tried to do the "install now" thing? Or does you car not show that it has downloaded? Should be a little download icon on the top row of your Sync screen if it's available. I can't see OTA status with FDRS so you'd have to check with somebody who can see that like @Mach-Lee or @Gimme_my_MME

So you're not interested in getting your BlueCruise to work? Or your Frunk to open with the door keypad?

There are a couple of problems with how you want to go about this.

In order for the new UI APIM update to be installed you'd first have to have the previous gateway (GWM) update or it wouldn't work properly (that gateway update is the equivalent of OTA 4.1.1).

Then there's the problem of the certificate file that is generated based on your VIN, and that is normally only generated when FDRS is directly connected to your car via adapter cable. Anybody with FDRS probably can pull the files off their computer and put them on a shared drive somewhere for you to put on a thumb drive, but without the VIN specific certificate your car won't accept the update.

Thank you Mike that was very insightful, as I wasn’t aware of the upgrade path.

Follow up question, if I were somehow to acquire the 4.11 on a thumb drive would I face the same issues with the VIN specific certificate?

Bummer. Thank you for running this! My BlueCruise is already working, it has been since day 1 - I never got into a habit of using the door keypad on any of my cars that had them - so I guess no biggie for me there. Thanks again Mike.

Car several times to the dealer but no luck for any update...
They dare to say to me that my model is old and not compatible with updates higher than 1.7.1
Can anyone pls check my VIN: WF0TK1EM6MMA32149.

Yes, your car will not transfer the files and update if the proper certificate is not present. ??

If that's what they told you they have no idea what they are doing. You should call Ford and open a case with them.

Here's the list of available updates:

Tell them they need to do that GWM (gateway) update before they do anything else. Very important. It is a requirement to get further updates done.
