Are you aware of a single Ford EV lease that has ever reduced lessee costs in recognition of the $7,500 federal income tax credit? Anywhere? Ever? In any way?

If you are, please do share the information. Many of us would be interested.
I am.

We leased a 2018 Fusion Energi. It had rebates of $11,007, which included the $4,007 tax credit put towards the lease. If we bought it, the rebates did not include that and were in total several thousand less.

I picked mine last week. I wonder how they gonna handle the price difference. Because if it was above 55K MSRP, does the price difference gonna apply gonna change the sale price so people can qualify with the new tax code?

So now in theory the Premium AWD standard range now meets IRS requirements.
Let's see what dealers do with these new numbers.
If they want sales, they shouldn't F with them.

Not sure thats why they stopped making cars, as much as it was they couldn't compete any longer with foreign brands. Think we gotta be honest here about how inefficient and low value our American car manufacturers have become over time. They all had to tuck tail and run to just large SUVs and Trucks because since the mid 60's the US has kept a 25% import tax on those vehicle types (called the Chicken Tax), which is not prevalent on other vehicles.

So between that tax rate, and that large vehicle types aren't as common overseas the legacy brands here have been protected from really competing and potentially losing like they have other segments. But on the flip side this lack of competition has given overly expensive large vehicles here, poor value, and laughable annual improvements that would make even the phone market look like its reinventing the wheel at this point. These companies have been protected to a point they lost their edge, which is why they are struggling to shake it off and compete with Tesla or soon to be a flood of China quality brands. Not to mention should they make a mistake or lose than the government has proven they'd just bail them out. Doesn't exactly build strong character.

Yes, that is definitely an issue - and something Ford had a chance to address but didn't. They either need a RWD RT1 or the option to add an ER battery to the Select at just under $55k

Just remember the ACTAUL range of the MY is around 270 miles.
Back in 2020 when the MY had a 75kWh battery, you are close as it did go 276 miles on InsideEvs 70 mph range test. Based on 71kWh usable, that is 3.89m/kW.

So if we consider a 78kW usable capacity based on the current 82kWh battery, a 2023 MY would likely travel 303 miles in a 70 mph range test. This is in line with the EPA rating of 330 miles since the EPA rating is not based on a steady 70 mph cruising speed.

As someone that took delivery on a Mach E four weeks ago, this really sucks for me! I would have ordered differently as well. . .

The SUV category is doing a lot of heavy lifting here since a large chunk of it are compact SUVs of which is a segment Ford is not competitive in as its dominated by foreign brands, incomparison to mid-size and full SUVs.

Nor would I remotely consider they are "right" to do so because the world is not just the US. Sedans dominate the global vehicles sales, and Ford has ceeded this market. Up to what like 6 straight year over year sales declines.

Chasing US truck market shares is a short term move, but disastrous long term. They'll go from bleeding out in Europe and China as they are now, to quickly being bloodlet out of those markets. The lost money there then bleeds into financials here in the US and they shrink into a niche manufacturer because they don't have the volume or cost structure to make compelling options.

So, it looks like this gets most configurations of the Mach-E under the $55k threshold, which is a good thing for those interested in the Ford. However, both the Model Y and Mach-E should be counted as a SUVs and fit under the $80k requirement. It's a shame our government is so shortsighted to hamstring the appeal of the two best selling American-made EVs. It's dumb.

I can now buy an MME Premium AWD for about $55k and qualify for the tax credit. That car has a standard range battery, which gets about 220 miles on a full charge.

A $55k MYLR costs about the same, qualifies for the tax credit, and the range is 330 miles.

Why would someone jump at the MME over the MYLR based on price?
Depends on if you want only one pedal drive without any adjustment, or that one person controls what the software will be like.

The MY does not have a 330 mi range. Tesla gamed the EPA ratings system and 270 is more realistic, same as the MME Premium AWD. I know, I had one.

The one things is that for electric cars the range will highly favor sedan shape. The new Ionic 6 commercial is pretty good. Though I don't care for the back of it, but if a long range car was needed this would probably fit well without spending excessive amounts.

Are there even on the lot Lightnings? Would be awesome to pick up a base one at MSRP ~$40k, but those were probably rarely built early on. :)

LOL, that 40K was a pipe dream which I also got super hyped and stoked on but later realized that it only went to into some early fleet adopters, and very few, selective individuals. To me, that was a bit disingenuous from Ford, and after the two price hikes it essentially made the Lightning a luxury, "look at me" type of vehicle because ppl were going to pay 70k on an XLT, etc.

On your second question, most people won't. And the comparable model is the Premium ER which an earlier poster stated still cost 5280 more comparable to a Model Y. With the tax credit factor that makes it an even bigger cost disadvantage. So you really have to like the Mach E more based on other factors outside of cost.

With that said, it would have been nice if that take a deeper cut on the select trim. Well we will see more of them on dealer lots so patience would be your friend here.

Yep - I'm interested in the ID Buzz but shesh ~2mi per kWh is terrible. Aero really matters for range.
