Just had this happen to me while charging at home?!

First a charging fault then I unplugged and started the car and was greeted with “Service vehicle soon”.

Happy New Year to me!
Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can assist with your concerns on my end.

Our car received the Power-Up 3.6.1 update at 2am last night, and shortly after my wife started the car at 7am, this powertrain malfunction / reduced power message showed up. I read out the DTCs with CarScanner, but haven't a clue which would have been the cause. They all look benign enough, where the explanation is given anyway.

I'll just hope it was a glitch related to the update.

So, first time seeing the wrench icon on my dash. Checked the dash because my scheduled charge last night didn't go through. Error message on app - the subject line plus an AWD malfunction ( I have rwd but i get it its a generalization)

I am Up to date on OTA. (New UI)

Thanks to the forum here I read more about this error. If it clears after a restart (I went back to sleep) could be good to go. Low and behold started the car for work. Wrench icon cleared. DCFCed down the street everything is fine. Will be on alert.

So it could be because of these recent updates I read too?

I plugged my 2022 GTPE in this morning about 945AM, and it started charging normally on my Level 2 charger. At 1046AM I got a CHARGE FAULT notification on FordPass, and shortly after that a POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/ REDUCED POWER. I could start and drive the car (at least back out of the garage and back in), but the Malfunction Indicator was on (also SERVICE REQUIRED.) When I attempted to re-plug the charger, the segmented circle indicator lights were orange. Several restart attempts resulted in the same indications.

After waiting about 30 minutes, all appears to be back to normal, but I am concerned that this might be the beginning of an HVJB "adventure."

My car started having that same problem recently. Charge fault, then red ring to prevent taking charge. Need to wait 15-30 Mins or so. Happened twice already past 2 weeks. First time I start the car it threw service vehicle soon message and power train malfunction on PAAK. The second time I let it sit a while and replug to charge without starting car. No power train message. Maybe I should schedule an appointment for a dealer visit.

I just had the same thing today and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow. I also started a case with Ford Corp just in case it's something bigger.

"Regardless of the type of failure we recommend that you open a case with the BEV team at Ford using the phone numbers provided at the bottom of this post - (800) 392-3673 USA / (800) 565-3673 Canada" from this thread https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ers-biggest-fear-facts-and-info-thread.18143/

Let me know what the dealer says. Most of the time they just update the module software.

I have a 2022 Mache E with 2500 miles and had the same issue yesterday, vehicle has recently been updated to 4.1.2. Unfortunately, when I called my dealer their first available appointment was 3 weeks out. I also created a case with Ford, and they told me they cannot do anything until the dealer accepts the vehicle. at this point, I don't see the alert any more, even if the error pops up I can't take the vehicle in for the next 3 weeks. I hope this won't happen again because looks like it's hard to take the Viechele in. I got the appointment, but what is disappointing is the level of customer service. At least they could get the vehicle and provide a loaner until they identify the issue. I even have an extra warranty that didn't help in this case because the dealer refused to accept my car.

Yesterday a Ford rep called and coordinated a dealer visit for next week to investigate further. So far the malfunction messages have not returned.

This is a common problem that appears to be associated with 4.1.2 and I doubt there is anything the dealer can do, unless Ford has released a fix via FDRS. Nobody has reported a fix yet that I have seen. So I would not even bother the dealer at this point.

Three weeks, lucky you. It took 3 months to get a dealer appointment for my GTPE. It finally went in last week for the HVBJB issue. Fortunately, the car was drivable even with the Wrench and High Voltage Battery Warning. The reason for the long delay was supposedly because of having only one EV certified tech and the ongoing hiring difficulties so many businesses are facing. A likely, unspoken factor was that I didn't buy it from the servicing dealer. And, yes, I did establish a case number with Ford long before the appointment date.

Yes, it appears they are updating the module software. They are keeping it overnight to allow the software to update/install. They did reach out to the Ford team (forget the name) to help with the error codes and proper steps to take. I guess it helps that my local dealer is getting more experience but if this happens again after I get it back I won't take it back in for now unless it's a different problem.

I do agree with mkhuffman above that it probably has something to do with the 4.1.2 update which I got a couple days ago and seems like a lot more people are having the exact same problem.

I received this alert on Wednesday while charging at home from a ChargePoint charger. I have never done DC charging and have a 22 job 2, 2300 miles so far. I made a maintenance appt with ford for today, but canceled it last night as the alert had gone away.

As for updates, I was 6 updates behind towards the end of January and then within 1 week, my car updated to the latest. Updates came so fast it wasn’t even informing me about them lol.

anyways, just throwing my hat in the ring as another person it’s happened to. If it happens again, I’ll take it in for sure. I can say the only change in driving I’ve done is trying Whisper mode for the first time in the past week.

I just had this happen in the middle of the night last night.

Charger: ChargePoint Home Flex (Outdoor)
Mileage: 2200
Date in Service: 11/3/2022

1:47 AM I got a Charge Fault message on my Message Center when it charged from 26% to 91%. It said to unplug and plug back in. I tried that. It didn't charge. When I started to drive away to work with it, I got the Service Vehicle Soon light and Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power error.

Since it hadn't been charging again, I drove it to the dealer and waited for an opening. They said the code didn't tell them anything and they have a question out to Ford. They plugged it in and it accepted a charge at the dealer, so I drove it off and they are supposed to get back to me.

The last update I received was on Feb 3 (and today is Feb 14)
