Wife and I both have 2021 Job 1 First Editions.

Mine is update to date on OTA and the new UI, she had to have BC installed at the dealer and has had only 1 update since.

Anyone that can run both VINs would be appreciated:

She needs that GWM (gateway) updated before the APIM (Sync 640 new UI) will show up. That GWM update is the same thing as PowerUp 4.1.1.

In both of your cases the BCM/GFM combinations would enable your Frunk to be opened with the door keypad. And if you took it to the dealer they would be able to enable the Frunk button in the Access menu (old UI), or the softbuttons now located in the top of the drive mode graphic (new UI).

So they did the OBCC and the WACM modules and ignored these:

GWM could come as an OTA, the rest...not so much.

Interesting...two separate programming sessions on the 6th of Jan.

During the first one they did the 22B28 HVAC update and then disconnected.

During the second update session it looks like they made every attempt to do the rest of the updates:

However...and for reasons that may be related to FDRS internet connectivity at that shop, a couple of the updates that supposedly were applied successfully (according to the session logs) are still in the available update list:

Those are the only two updates you have showing currently. Hope this helps.

Supposedly they had to order a part but the service writer didn’t know what they had to order. While they had it I got a FordPass app notification that a Sync update has been made to 4.1.2 but after that update was when they said a part had to be replaced. I wonder if they ordered a part to fix a problem they caused or didn’t understand. This dealership is the type to replace the engine without noticing that the reason it wouldn’t drive was because the gas tank was empty. Was there any noticeable changes listed in the update log that you showed me after the January repair?

They started on the 1st with a gateway update:

Apparently, there was an APIM (Sync) update available, but they ran it, changed their mind and then cancelled that procedure without finishing it. The APIM update is no longer in your available list.

On the 2nd they launched into a bunch of troubleshooting steps and did 'configs' of several modules, in an effort, I think, to reload valid asbuilt data back into the modules to kind of rebaseline some things. I guess there was another GWM (gateway) update done again as well:

At the end there you can see they were having problems with the IPMA (image processor) alignment.

That brings us to the 3rd where they continued with the IPMA alignment and they also did a PMI procedure, but FDRS doesn't actually name the module they were doing the PMI on...IPMA maybe?

I would be very surprised if you got this car back with the new Sync UI. You still have the older rev of GWM software, and your APIM software is the older version (Pre Sync 640 version) as well.

Given that, I'm wondering why you don't have any software updates showing as available, cause you're clearly not up to date from some of the software versions I'm seeing in FDRS.

So if it is a part that communicates to the rest of the car and by extension Ford, was it not initialized? In FRDS I am guessing you see a list of components and the software versions running on them. The fact that I got a FordPass message saying they updated to 4.1.2 means they removed that component since it is now the older 640? And since you listed the gateway module being one of the first updated but now it lists it as old does that also means some thing was replaced and not updated once it was plugged in?

Yes in general terms, but there's no indication what exactly they replaced in FDRS. It might have been the gateway but I'm not sure. If FP says you got OTA 4.1.2 well that's the new Sync 640. But that's not what FDRS says you have now based on the software revision itself. And you wouldn't have gotten that new Sync update under normal circumstances unless your gateway was updated to a later revision of the gateway software than what FDRS shows for that module right now as well. You'll have to ask for an explanation on what part they actually replaced.
