EDIT: As you'll find out if you read this thread, I misread the electric fees and caused a panic attack for myself. You can skip over this or you can read below for some mild entertainment.

I don't understand the point where people say that EV is cheaper than gas. It costs 44kwh to charge from 36% to 80%

At $0.97/kwh that's $45 around... For a not even entire tank and not starting from 0. Estimated miles at then is 195. Let's say it's 210 for fun that's still only an 8 gallon tank of gas. My Mustang Convertible with a low MPG and 13 gallon tank still went farther for less money...

Is that based on charging @ home? I have a Ford Home EV Charger. It costs me 13cents per kWh. Of course if you if you charge up @ at EV Station, then the rates will vary. I worked out that it costs me in the region of 3 to 5 pence per mile as a petrol would be in the region of 13 to 15 per mile.

Where are you paying 97c per kWh? That’s outrageous. I pay 12c at home which equates to being roughly 2.5x-3x less expensive than a similar gas powered vehicle. If you’re exclusively DC fast charging, you will be approaching similar costs to gas.

Who pays .97?
.18 at home and roughly .40 on the road (rarely)

Yeah, and at $5/kwh it would cost $220. Crazy more expensive than your Mustang Convertible.

It's been said but in New England it does cost more, we are around 40cents a kw charging at home. I have solar but for others it's an equivalent cost if not more for an EV.

All I know is that we have 2 cars. I drive 80 miles per day round trip for work. It cost me around $600 a month to fill my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. My husband had a 2015 Acura TLX that took premium fuel. We charge both MMEs for around $175 per month. So....I think my EV is cheaper than my ICE.

I hate to agree but I have to for some areas of the country. In Maine my Home Rate is a flat $.28/kWh and winter efficiency 2.8 mi/kWH for my Hyundai (it was less with my Mach E (2.3-2.5)). So in the Winter I am at $0.10/Mile electric and my Mini Clubman AWD is 35 MPG and $3.50/gallon, so the same @$.10/kWh. So equal. If I have to DCFC on a trip, like I am next week, that is out the window as the EV is more ($.31-$.43 for EA or CP road-tripping, My closest DCFC is $0.50/kWh) if I did not have free EA for two years (or still had my Mach E). This all resets in the Spring/Summer and Fall when I will get 3.5-4.0 mi/kWH with my EV and gas goes up to $4+ per gallon. It's all dependent on electricity and fuel costs and it has been a yo-yo lately. Unfortunately this "greening of the grid" is falling on consumers. NH $.36/kWh flat rate, California has areas that are $.33/kWh etc.

Okay wow I feel dumb lol I totally missed the 0 in front in my math. $0.097. Thanks for making me go double check that! I feel way better now ?

And yes, this is with a home charger.
So basically your entire point of this post has been self-debunked. Good job!

Enjoy your Mustang convertible.

I love driving past so many gas stations at $5.00 / gallon in my area and it's still going up !

Loved that I cut up my gas card too!
